Dumri (Template:Lang-hi) is a community development block in Gumla district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
Geography
Dumri is located at 23°10′08″N 84°07′27″E / 23.1687790°N 84.1241070°E.
To the east Dumri has Chainpur block, north border has Mahuwadanr (Palamau district) and south-west has the border of Chhattisgarh.[1]
Gram Panchayats under Dumri intermediate panchayat are: Akasi, Dumri, Govindpur, Jairagi, Jarda, Jurmu, Karni, Khetali, Majhagaon, Meral, Nawadih, Shishi Karamtoli, Sikari, and Udani.[2]
Demographics
As of 2001[update] census, Dumri block had a total population of 69, 252, out of which 35, 263 were males and 33, 989 were females. 19, 471 males were literate and 12, 575 females were literate. There is predominance of tribal people in Dumri blck. 55, 596 persons belonged to the scheduled tribes.[1]
In the Paat region primitive tribes, Korba, Asur and Birhor, have been living for centuries. The local administration and the state government have first priority to provide primary facilities to the primitive tribes.[1]
Culture
Tanginath Temple is situated at 9 km from Dumri.[1]
People
Martyr L.N.Albert Ekka, winner of the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration, was born at Jari village, under Shishi Karamtoli gram panchayat.[1]
