Figure skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics will be held at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, Russia. The five events are scheduled for February 6–22, 2014.[1]

For the first time at the Winter Olympics a team event in figure skating will be held. For this reason the competition will start a day before the Opening ceremony. This marks the first time in the history of the Winter Olympics that figure skating competitions will be held before the Opening ceremony.[2]

Qualification

A total of 148 quota spots are available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of 18 athletes can be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of 9 men or 9 women. An additional six quota spots were made available for the team event.[4][5]

  • Great Britain is allowed to bring a men's skater to allow the country to participate in the team event, bringing the actual total entries to 149.
