Jamar Wall (born January 10, 1988) is a gridiron football safety who is currently a member of the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He played college football at Texas Tech. Wall has also played for the Houston Texans and the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League.

Early years

Wall attended Plainview High School where he played as a running back, defensive back and punter. In his last year he received All-State honors after registering 2,735 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns.

He accepted a scholarship from Texas Tech University, where he was a three-year starter at cornerback and received second-team All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore. He finished his college career with 185 tackles and 9 interceptions (5 as a sophomore).

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

Wall was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (196th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.[1] He was signed to a four-year contract on July 21. He was waived during final roster cuts on September 4.[2]

Houston Texans

He was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans on September 5, 2010.[3] He was only active in the team's season-opener against the Indianapolis Colts and recorded one tackle. He was released on September 29.

Philadelphia Eagles

Wall was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad on September 30, 2010. He was switched to safety and was promoted to the active roster on December 21 after Nate Allen was placed on the injured reserve list.[4] He was cut on December 31, but was re-signed to the practice squad on January 3, before being signed to a future contract on January 13, 2011. He was waived on August 29, 2011, but was re-signed on September 1, only to be waived again the next day.

Georgia Force (AFL)

He signed with the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League on February 2, 2012.[5]

Calgary Stampeders (CFL)

On June 10, 2012, Wall signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League as a free agent, making 12 starts while playing the halfback and cornerback positions. He registered 33 tackles (1 for loss), 3 passes defensed and 2 sacks.[6] The next year he played in 12 games and registered 41 tackles, 2 passes defensed and tied for the team-lead with 4 interceptions (tied for the team lead).[7]

In 2014, he was a part of the Grey Cup winning team and received CFL All-star honors, while finishing with 18 starts, 62 tackles, 6 interceptions (tied for the league lead) and five passes defensed (tied for the team lead). The next year, he started 18 games, posting 70 tackles, 2 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 10 passes defensed (led the team) and 2 special-teams tackles and a team-high 10 knockdowns. He also has one punt return for six yards.
