American R&B recording artist Kelly Rowland began her career in 1997 with one of the best-selling American girl groups, Destiny's Child, who have sold around 60 million records worldwide.[1] Her discography as a solo artist began in 2000 on the remix of R&B recording artist Avant's single "Separated". It also includes four studio albums, two compilation albums, one box set, two extended plays, forty singles, including fifteen as a featured artist and four promotional singles, and four charted songs.

As of November 2012, Rowland, as a solo artist, has sold over 24 million records worldwide.[2] She has attained number-one singles on several charts in the United States, including one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and three on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.[3][4] Internationally, Rowland has achieved nine top-ten singles in the United Kingdom, including two number-ones, and in Australia she has released six top-twenty singles.

During the hiatus of Destiny's Child, Rowland released her debut solo album Simply Deep in 2002, which contained influences of alternative-R&B and rock music.[5][6] It included her joint worldwide number-one single "Dilemma" with rapper Nelly, which was certified three-times platinum in Australia.[7] Other singles released from the album include "Stole", "Can't Nobody" and "Train on a Track". "Stole" peaked in the top thirty of the US Billboard Hot 100 and top five in most other regions, including in Australia and the United Kingdom where it reached number two. "Can't Nobody" and "Train on a Track" also respectively reached the top-five and top-twenty in the UK. The album was a commercial success; more than 2.5 million copies were sold worldwide.[8] It was subsequently certified platinum in the United Kingdom,[9] and gold in Australia,[10] Canada,[11] and the United States.[12]

In 2005, Destiny's Child released their final album before disbanding the following year.[13] Rowland prepared her next studio album initially under the title My Story. However this was revamped and finally released in 2007 as Ms. Kelly.[14] It featured the lead single, "Like This" (with Eve), which became her third US top-thirty and her four UK top-five, and the international hit single "Work". A third single "Ghetto", with Snoop Dogg, was released but did not chart. The re-releases of the album also included another moderately successful single, "Daylight", with Travis McCoy. Despite selling 1.2 million copies worldwide, the album was considerably less successful than its predecessor, having failed to earn any chart certificates.[15] During this time, Rowland also featured Trina's 2005 single, "Here We Go", which peaked at top-twenty in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and the United States.

In 2009, Columbia Records ended their contract with Rowland due to the lack of commercial success with Ms. Kelly.[16][17] Since then, Rowland worked on a number of collaborations with European singers; most notably French singer Nâdiya, Italian singer Tiziano Ferro, and French DJ David Guetta. Rowland collaborated with Guetta for several songs on his One Love album. This included Rowland's feature on the worldwide dance hit "When Love Takes Over". Following the success of the single, she announced that her next studio album would be more up-tempo with dance and Europop influences.[18] She has since signed to Universal Motown Records.[19] In 2010, Rowland released "Everywhere You Go" (with Rhythm of Africa) for the 2010 FIFA World Cup,[20] recorded a version of "Wonderful Christmastime" for the album Now That's What I Call Christmas! 4,[21] and featured on UK grime artist Tinie Tempah's single "Invincible", taken from his debut album Disc-Overy.[22]

Rowland's third album Here I Am was released in July 2011, which debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200, and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album's international lead single "Commander" (with David Guetta) topped the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart, and reached the top-ten in the UK and some of Europe. Other singles released from the album include "Rose Colored Glasses", Forever and a Day", "Motivation", "Lay It on Me" and "Down for Whatever". "Motivation" (with Lil Wayne) became Rowland's best charting single in the US since 2002's "Dilemma", reaching number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was subsequently certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[12] The album's final single "Down for Whatever" (with The WAV.s) reached the top-ten in the UK. Here I Am so far has been certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry. Throughout 2011, Rowland worked on a number of collaborations with American and European artists; most notably Italian DJ Alex Gaudino, American R&B singer Lonny Bereal, and American rappers Verse Simmonds and Nelly.

Rowland's fourth album, Talk a Good Game was released June 14, 2013. The album is preceded by its two singles, "Kisses Down Low" and "Dirty Laundry". "Kisses Down Low" performed modestly on the charts, debuting at 96 and peaking at 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and 25 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The second single, "Dirty Laundry" debuted at 50 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
