Khanauri (Punjabi:ਖਨੌਰੀ) is a town and a nagar panchayat in sangrur district in the state of Punjab, India. It is located at NH 71 at the border of Punjab and Haryana.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Khanauri had a population of 10,960. Population of comprises 5791 male and 5167 females. In Khanauri, 16 percent of the whole population is below six years of age. Average literacy rate of Khanauri is 55percent. 61 percent and 48 percent are the rates of male and female literacy respectively.

The lushness and beauty of the town has been boosted up with the flowing of some of the rivers like Bhakhra, Ghaggar etc. There are three Temples in city: Shri Mahavir Mandir,Shri Naina Devi Mandir and temple of Lord Shiva and also one Gurdwara Sahib has been built and prove to be worth visiting.
