The discography of Lady Gaga, an American pop singer, consists of one studio album, one compilation album, three extended plays (EPs), nine singles (including one as a featured artist), five promotional singles, one video album and eleven music videos. As of August 2010, she has sold more than 51 million singles and 15 million albums worldwide.[1][2] At the age of seventeen, she studied music at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts,[3] before dropping out at nineteen.[4] She began her career performing in burlesque clubs and writing songs for artists such as Britney Spears and New Kids on the Block prior to releasing her debut album The Fame on August 19, 2008.[5]

The Fame peaked at number two in the United States and was subsequently certified triple platinum.[6][7] The album also saw large success in Europe where it topped the charts in Germany and the United Kingdom.[8][9] Its first two singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face", peaked at number one in the United States and went quadruple platinum for sales of four million copies.[10][11] The singles were also successful internationally, reaching number one in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.[12][13][14] The album spawned three more singles: "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)", "LoveGame", which became her lowest charting single in several countries, and "Paparazzi", which reached the top ten in many countries worldwide, including number one in Germany.[8] As of August 2010, The Fame has sold more than twelve million copies worldwide.[15]

The success of the album led to plans of a deluxe edition, The Fame Monster, which was ultimately released as a standalone EP on November 18, 2009.[3] It peaked at number one in Australia and reached number five in the US, where it has been certified platinum.[12][6][7] Its lead single, "Bad Romance", became an international hit, reaching number one in twelve countries and number two in the US.[16][13][17][18][14][10] The succeeding singles, "Telephone" and "Alejandro", were top ten hits in many countries.[19][20] "Dance in the Dark" has been released as the album's fourth single in some territories, including Australia, where it has reached number twenty-four on the charts.[12] Gaga's first compilation, The Remix, was released on March 3, 2010. It peaked at number six in the US and reached the top five in Canada and the United Kingdom.[6][21][9] The remix album has sold 500,000 copies worldwide.[22] The singer's second full-length studio album, Born This Way, is scheduled for a 2011 release.[23]
