List of episodes

The episodes of the first season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date, and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto.[1] The season is set two and a half years later, with Naruto Uzumaki and his team rescuing Gaara from the criminal organization Akatsuki. The episodes began airing on February 15, 2007 on TV Tokyo in Japan, and the first season finished on October 25, 2007.[2] The first season was released on DVD in Japan over eight discs between August 1, 2007 and March 5, 2008 under the name of Kazekage Rescue (風影奪還, Kazekage Dakkan).[3] There is also a special feature included with the seventh Naruto: Shippuden compilation DVD based on the second ending of the series called Hurricane! "Konoha Academy" Chronicles (疾風!"木ノ葉学園"伝, Shippū! "Konoha Gakuen" Den).[3]

On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes.[4] Premiering on October 28, 2009 in Disney XD, the first season aired until April 21, 2010.[5] A series of eight DVDs of the season was released in North America between September 29, 2009 and April 6, 2010. The last volume also contained episodes from the second season.[6][7] Viz also collected the season in three DVD boxes between January 26, 2010 and August 3, 2010, also sharing the third volume with the second season.[8][9] In the United Kingdom, Manga Entertainment released it in three DVD volumes from June 14, 2010 to October 4, 2010,[10][11] while a DVD box containing the first 52 episodes was released on March 7, 2011.[12]

The series' first season used five musical themes: two openings and three endings. The first opening themes, "Hero's Come Back!!" by nobodyknows+, is used from episodes 1 to 30, while the second opening theme "Distance" by Long Shot Party, was used for episodes 31 and 32. The first ending theme, "Nagareboshi (Shooting Star)" (流れ星 〜Shooting Star〜) by Home Made Kazoku is used from episodes 1 to 18, the second ending theme, "Michi, To You All" (道 〜to you all) by Alüto is used from episodes 19 to 30. The third ending theme, "Kimi Monogatari" (キミモノガタリ, "Your Story") by Little by Little, is used for episodes 31 and 32. A featured movie, Naruto Shippuden the Movie, based on the Naruto: Shippuden series, was released on August 4, 2007.[13] The broadcast versions of episodes 24 through 27 included scenes from the movie in both the opening and ending themes, while still retaining the original music.
