This is a list of deities, legendary creatures, and other beings of unexplained origin that appear in the anime and manga universe of the Dragon Ball metaseries, including the Dragon Ball films. Following some characters bio are external links that focus on that character.

Deities

Dende

Dende (デンデ, Dende) is a Namekian who takes the role of the Earth's guardian after Kami fuses with Piccolo. He is first introduced in the Freeza Saga when Son Gohan and Kuririn (Krillin) save him from Dodoria.[1] He gets his power unlocked by their elder, giving him the power to heal. He aids the warriors during the fight with Freeza until he is killed by the tyrant. After being revived by Shen Long, he lives on New Namek until Son Goku teleports there during the Cell Saga to ask a Namekian to become the new guardian of the Earth and revive the Dragon Balls. Dende accepts, and continues to serve as the Guardian throughout the rest of the series.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Tomiko Suzuki. In the Funimation dub he is voiced by Ceyli Delgadillo in the original dub and Laura Bailey in the re-dub as a child, and by Justin Cook as an adult. In the Ocean dub, he was voiced by Paulina Gillis as a child and by Andrew Francis as an adult.

Kami

Kami (, Kami) known respectfully in Japanese as Kami-sama as a title meaning "God", was the good half of the Namekian that came to be the God of Earth, with his evil half becoming the Piccolo Daimao. During a flashback in the film "Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone", we see that he competed with Garlic for the position and won. 300 years later, Garlic's son Garlic Jr., bearing a perpetual grudge, attempted twice to fight for the title and lost, encased in his own demonic prison. Kami then watched over the planet for centuries to ensure its safety.

Seeing the spawn of his other half, Piccolo threatening the planet, he goes to Earth in secret and competes in the World Martial Arts Tournament by possessing a human. After advancing to the semifinals he battles Piccolo, trying to trap him in a bottle using the Mafūba. Piccolo is able to overcome it by reversing the attack, trapping Kami in the bottle himself. He then swallows the bottle for safe-keeping before losing Kami in his match with Son Goku. During the Cell Saga, Kami agreed to merge and rejoin Piccolo so they would be a match for Cell and the Androids.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Takeshi Aono and Christopher Sabat in the English dub. In the Ocean dub, Michael Dobson provides the voice in the Saiyan Saga through the Freeza Saga. In the Garlic Jr. Saga through his final appearance in the 2nd episode of the Imperfect Cell Saga, and his appearance in the Dead Zone film, his voice was supplied by Dale Wilson.

Mr. Popo

Mr. Popo (ミスター・ポポ, Misutā Popo) is an immortal djinn who lives with Kami in Kami's Palace/Lookout and is bound there eternally as the gardener and caretaker. He has served every other Kami (God/Guardian) of the Earth since the beginning of time. He was trained by the recent Kami himself and trained Goku for 3 years in order to fight Piccolo.

Some sources have discussed Mr. Popo as an example of darky iconography, a racist style of caricature known as blackface. [1] In May of 2000, an article written by children's book author Carole Boston Weatherford suggested that Mr. Popo, along with the Pokémon Jynx, were derogatory stereotypes. He is, in fact, based upon Arabic artistry and is believed to be Arabic in ancestry, not African. [2] In 2004, Viz began to downsize Mr. Popo's large lips digitally in the American re-release of the Dragon Ball manga [3].

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Toku Nishio. He was voiced by French Tickner in the Ocean dub. For the Funimation dub, he was voiced by Chris Cason in the original dub of the Freeza Saga and later on by Christopher R. Sabat.

Karin

(English dubs: Korin, Harmony Gold dub: Whiskers the Wonder Cat)[2]

Karin (カリン, Karin) is a senbyō ( immortal cat) who has lived at the top of Karin Tower for more than 800 years. The tower is located right underneath Kami's Lookout, which is a few hundred meters[verification needed] higher than Karin's tower and can be reached by Son Goku's nyoi-bō. Karin is a deity just below the rank of Kami, and plays a large role in Dragon Ball when he trains Goku during the Commander Red Saga to defeat Tao Pai Pai. At later points in the series and in Dragon Ball Z, Karin lends his assistance periodically to Goku and the other characters by growing them Senzu, which only grow in a tree in his tower.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Ichirō Nagai and then later by Naoki Tatsuta. He was voiced by Doug Parker in the Ocean dub of the Saiyan saga through the Namek Saga, and by Ted Cole in the Garlic Jr. Saga through to his final appearance. In the Funimation dub he was voiced by Mark Britten and later by Chris Sabat.

Enma Daio

(English dub: King Yemma)

Enma Daio (Enma Daiō) is a giant red oni who judges the dead. Residing in the Other World, it is his job to decide whether dead people go to Heaven or Hell. He is based on the Hindu deity Yama. He is first seen when Son Goku is killed by Piccolo during the battle with Raditz. He was until then the only person who has ever run all the way along Serpent Road, but grants Goku permission to attempt this in order to get to North Kaio's planet, which is at the end of Serpent Road. He is apparently skilled to some degree in fighting, as he claims he bested Raditz when the latter attempted to break into Heaven while passing through his realm. According to Kami, North Kaio is stronger than he is.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Daisuke Gōri. Chris Rager did his voice in the dub.

Mez

Mez (メズ, Mezu) is an oni that is in charge of Hell together with Goz. Enma Daiō is his boss and also the only oni who is faster than Mez. His skin is red, he has dark hair and two horns, making him looking closer to Enma Daio than other oni. He challenges Goku to a running competition and is doing quite well in it, but then Goku tricks him and wins (also managing to steal one of Ensenji, Enma Daio's Fruits). After his loss, Mez shows a way back to the serpent road (to Enma Daio's table, to be more precise). He later is shown watching the fight between Goku and Kid Boo with Goz and other past villians.

He was voiced in the original Japanese version by Koji Totani. The voice of Mez in the Funimation dub was provided by Mike McFarland and later by Christopher Sabat. In the Ocean dub, he is voiced by Alistair Abell in Season 1 and in Seasons 3-9 by Scott McNeil. In the original Japanese, Mez speaks with adding "oni" to the end of each sentence.

Goz

Goz (ゴズ, Gozu) is an oni that is in charge of Hell together with Mez. Enma Daiō is his boss and also the only oni who is stronger than Goz. His skin is blue, he has purple hair and one horn. He stops Goku from eating Ensenji (Enma Daio's Fruit) by hitting him with a spiked club. He challenges Goku to wrestling match and toys with him for some time, pretending to help him leave Hell. He later appears with Mez watching the fight with Goku and Kid Boo in with other villians.

He is voiced by Seiji Sato in the original Japanese version. The voice of Goz in the Funimation dub is provided by Chris Rager and later by Chris Sabat. In the Ocean version, he is voiced by Scott McNeil. In the original Japanese, Goz speaks with adding おに ("oni") to the end of each sentence. to the end of each sentence.

Gregory

Gregory is North Kaio's pet grasshopper, who is only featured in the anime. When Son Goku, who sought training from North Kaio, first arrived on his planet, after capturing Bubbles, his next training sessions was to hit Gregory with a hammer. After a long time, Goku finally overcame the 10x gravity of the planet and successfully hit Gregory over the head with his hammer. Later, in the Cell Saga, Gregory, along with North Kaio, Bubbles & Goku, died when Goku teleported the ready-to-explode Cell to North Kaio's planet. Also, North Kaio's house was destroyed. However, as he was already residing in heaven, his death had little effect aside from producing a halo over his head.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Yuji Mitsuya. In the Funimation dub, Gregory is voiced by Mark Britten in the original dub and by John Burgmeier in the re-dub. Doug Parker voiced him in the Ocean dub.

Bubbles

Bubbles is North Kaio's pet monkey. When Son Goku, who sought training from North Kaio, first arrived on his planet, he mistook Bubbles for North Kaio. In one of Goku's training sessions, his task was to catch Bubbles. It took Goku 40 days to finally overcome the 10x gravity of the planet and catch Bubbles. Later, in the Cell Saga, Bubbles, along with North Kaio, Gregory (anime only) & Goku, died when Goku teleported the ready-to-explode Cell to North Kaio's planet. Also, North Kaio's house was destroyed. However, as he was already residing in heaven, his death had little effect aside from producing a halo over his head.

His seiyū is Naoki Tatsuta. In the Funimation dub, Bubbles' voice effects were done by Mark Britten in the original dub and by Christopher R. Sabat in the re-dub. In the Ocean group dub, Doug Parker voiced him.

Kaio

File:Kais.jpg
The Kais.

The Kaio (界王, Kaiō) are upper-level gods of the fictional Dragon Ball universe. The name Kaio is a conjunction of the word for "kai" for 'World' and "o" for 'King'. There are four per galaxy, with one presiding over each of the four quadrants in a galaxy, and the last (the Dai Kaio or Grand Kai) overseeing them all. The Kaio are responsible for the lower-level gods, who rule over individual planets. The Kaio reside in the heavens (Other World in English adaptations). There is a sense of competition among the Kaio over whose quadrant has the best fighters.

Dai Kaio

Dai Kaio (Funimation dub: Grand Kai) is the ruler of the other Kaios in the galaxy, including Son Goku's trainer North Kaio. He's portrayed as an aged hipster, wearing jeans and a denim jacket and constantly listening to rock music on his boom box. His home is the Dai Kaio's Planet. He's stronger than the other Kaios, but although he never admits it, he is not in the same league as Goku. He is reputed to be the greatest fighter in the universe, but he has been out of training for centuries.

Even though he is the teacher of the greatest warriors in the galaxy, Dai Kaio (much like North Kaio) is more of a sweet and a kind grandfatherly figure than a traditional disciplinarian. Paying no heed to respectful-but-cold formality, he lovingly treats his social-inferiors as equals and dotes on them as if they were his own grandchildren. In the Japanese version, he affectionately addresses younger warriors with suffix of "-chan", a term of endearment usually reserved for young children. (e.g., Goku-chan, Paikuhan-chan)

Although he doesn't appear in the manga, a Dai Kaio is mentioned. His characterization in the anime was suggested to the production staff by Akira Toriyama himself.[3]

He is voiced by Ryûji Saikachi in the original version and by Mark Britten in the Funimation dub. His Ocean voice actor is Richard Newman.

North Kaio

North Kaio (Funimation dub: King Kai, North Kai) is the Kaio of the quadrant of the galaxy where the planets Earth and Namek reside. In the English manga, he is also known as Kaiô-sama or Lord of the Worlds. Claiming himself to be very humorous; he will only teach his subordinates if they laugh at his non-comedic jokes (really bad puns), or tell him a good joke.[4] He can only train those who can reach the end of Snake Way. He trained Goku in martial arts, who succeeded in doing so and taught him very powerful techniques that have been essential to many of his battles: including the Genki Dama and the Kaio-ken.[5][6] He has a pet monkey named Bubbles and a pet grasshopper named Gregory (only featured in the anime). Later in the Cell Saga, North Kaio, along with Bubbles, Gregory (anime only) and Goku, died when Goku teleported the ready-to-explode Cell to his planet. Also, his house was destroyed. However, as he was already residing in heaven, his death had little effect aside from producing a halo over his head. Apparently, Kami notes him as being stronger than Enma Daio.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Joji Yanami. In the Ocean dub, Don Brown did his voice. For the Funimation dub, the voice was done by Sean Schemmel.

South Kaio

(Funimation dub: South Kai)

South Kaio is the Kaio of the southern quadrant of the galaxy. He is the tallest of the Kaios. The southern quadrant is believed to be relatively peaceful due to the apparent weakness of its fighters compared to the other quadrants. It is also worth noting that the entire Southern Quadrant was destroyed by the Saiyan warrior Broly in his search for Kakarotto. South Kaio was the only other Kaio other than North Kaio to appear in the manga.

His seiyū is Toku Nishio. He was voiced by Dameon Clarke in the Funimation version and by Scott McNeil in the Ocean dub.

East Kaio

(Funimation dub: East Kai)

East Kaio is the Kaio of the eastern quadrant of the galaxy. She is the only female of the Kaios. The fighters of the eastern quadrant are renowned for their speed. She treats her fighters badly if they are eliminated in a tournament. She also enjoys racing and challenges Goku to a race shortly before the Afterlife Tournament.

She is voiced by Keiko Yamamoto in the Japanese version, by Lisa Bunting in the Ocean dub, and by Stephanie Nadolny in the Funimation dub.

West Kaio

(Funimation dub: West Kai)

West Kaio is the Kaio of the western quadrant of the galaxy. He is the shortest of the Kaios and is North Kaio's biggest rival, due to both quadrants having exceptionally strong fighters. His star pupil is Paikuhan.

In the original version, he is voiced by Bin Shimada. His Ocean voice was done by Terry Klassen while in the Funimation dub he was voiced by Kyle Herbert.

Kaioshin

Above the Kaio are the Kaioshin (in the English anime dubbed Supreme Kai), who look after the entire universe. Similar to the regular Kaio; there is one for each cluster of four galaxies in the universe and a Dai Kaioshin to preside over them. Or at least that was the established order, until Majin Boo killed off most of the Kaioshin, with only the East Kaioshin surviving.

Dai Kaioshin

Dai Kaioshin (Funimation dub: Grand Supreme Kai, Ocean Group dub: Dai Kaioh, Spanish Dub: Sacred Kaio-sama) God of all Kaiōshin, Dai Kaioshin was a fat, kind being. In the original fight with the Kaiōshin, Boo attempts to absorb the Dai Kaioshin, after starting to lose the fight. This act usually makes Boo's strength increase in proportion to the strength of whomever he absorbs. However, the Dai Kaioshin is absorbed by Boo, and because Dai Kaioshin was so good, Boo actually became weaker and slightly more susceptible to control. His losing power is due to Kid Boo being a creature of pure evil, and any good distorts his nature and nullifies that power. Dai Kaioshin is never released by Boo like some other absorptions. Being the highest deity mentioned in Dragon Ball, Dai Kaioshin is the God of the Dragon Ball universe.

East Kaioshin

(Funimation dub: Supreme Kai, East Supreme Kai)

East Kaioshin (東の界王神, Higashi no Kaiōshin) is the supreme ruler of the Eastern Quadrant of the Universe along with his best friends, and under his superior, Dai Kaioshin (Grand Supreme Kai). He is short, purple skinned with white hair, dressed in a posh Kaio outfit and always accompanied by his ever-loyal bodyguard and friend, Kibito. East Kaioshin survived Boo's assault on the Kaioshin Kai to become the only surviving Kaioshin, when rescued by his bodyguard. East Kaioshin mentions that he was the weakest of the four Kaioshins. Afterwards, he is typically called only Kaioshin, since there are no others to confuse him with. During the Majin Boo Saga, he becomes fused with Kibito, however, in this fusion, only Kaioshin's voice is heard, unlike other fusions where there is a dual voice spoken by the two characters fused. Also, the fusion character, Kibitoshin, bears only the facial appearance of Kaioshin. Even before merging with Kibito though, its mentioned by Piccolo that he has a huge amount of power, power enough to frighten him. In the English manga, Kaioshin is frequently referred to as "the lord of lords".

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Yūji Mitsuya. For the Funimation dub, Kent Williams did the voice.

Kibito

Kibito is the bodyguard and greatest ally of East Kaioshin. He, like Dende, has the power of healing, which helps the Z Fighters in many situations. Kibito was to fight Son Gohan in the 25th Budokai but instead asked him to reveal his full power, prompting Gohan to transform into a Super Saiyan, and soon after Super Saiyan 2. He was killed by Dabura during reconnaissance on Babidi's ship, but is later brought back to life by the Dragon Balls. He has the ability to heal and restore strength to other beings and teleport without the use of an energy signature called Kai Kai. Kibito ultimately fuses with the East Kaioshin to form Kibitoshin (Kibitokai in the Funimation dub).

He was voiced in the original version by Shin Aomori and by Andrew Chandler in the Funimation dub.

Rou Dai Kaioshin

Rou Kaioshin (老界王神, Rō Kaiōshin) (Funimation dub: Elder Kai, Ocean Group dub: Old Kai) is a Kaioshin who came out of the legendary Z-Sword, in which he had been trapped and stuck to the ground by an old enemy, according to him a "incredibly strong evil fellow". He resembles the East Kaioshin, but with an older, wrinkled face, and a small mustache. Son Gohan releases him during the Majin Boo Saga when he breaks the Z-Sword, while trying to cut Klangite, a block made of the strongest and hardest material in the universe. After being released, he agreed to help Gohan unlock his full potential so he could defeat Boo, but only in exchange for getting a date Bulma.

Centuries ago, he used to be quite handsome by his own standards, but a hideous witch came up to him and stole one of his Potara Fusion Earrings and put it on. Rou Dai Kaioshin was instantly combined with the witch permanently. While he lost his looks, he gained more magical power. In the Majin Boo Saga, he sacrifices his life so Son Goku can live, and gives him the Potara earrings to fuse with Gohan on Earth. However, as he was already residing in heaven, his death had little effect aside from producing a halo over his head.

In the Baby Saga of Dragon Ball GT, he helps Goku become much stronger by helping him regrowing his tail, a painful process involving a giant set of pliers.

His seiyū is Reizô Nomoto. Like his successor, he was also voiced by Kent Williams in the Funimation dub. In the Ocean Group version, he is voiced by Scott McNeil.

North Kaioshin

(Funimation dub: North Supreme Kai, Ocean Group dub: North Kaioh)

North Kaioshin is a Kaioshin who was around Millenia ago. He was usually seen as a fisherman that was very happy. He was the second Kaioshin to be killed by Boo. He may seem quite weak but he is skilled with a sword as he is able to cut Boo in half.

South Kaioshin

(Funimation dub: South Supreme Kai, Ocean Group dub: South Kaioh)

South Kaioshin is the strongest and most skilled of all five Kaioshin. He is the third to battle Kid Boo and is the first person to be absorbed by him. In the anime there is hardly anything mentioned about his personality.

West Kaioshin

(Funimation dub: West Supreme Kai, Ocean Group dub: West Kaioh)

West Kaioshin is one of the Kaioshins that lived milennia ago. She was quite playful as seen when she runs off with South Kaioshin's food. She is the first to fight Kid Boo and was killed by him with a giant energy blast.

Demonic creatures

Babidi

Babidi (バビディ, Babidi) was determined to resurrect Boo so that he could continue his father's work, namely conquering the universe, and thus make him proud. Babidi took over the minds of Dabura, Pocus, Yakon, Spopovitch, Yamu and Vegeta to help him in this cause. Babidi's mental abilities are very powerful, surpassing those of various mystical individuals who reside in the afterlife such as the telepathic North Kaio, and illusionist Snake Princess. After Boo is released, Vegeta nearly kills Babidi when trying to destroy Boo. When Boo is seemingly destroyed, Piccolo bisects Babidi and leaves him for dead. After Boo revives himself, he finds Babidi who then orders Boo to revive him. Babidi orders Boo to kill Dabura, Kaioshin, Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, Trunks, Vegeta (before his sacrifice) and whoever else stands in his way. As Boo is very disobedient, Babidi can only control him by threatening to seal him up. After an encounter with Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Boo learns that he is stronger than Babidi. Realizing this, Boo strangles Babidi (so Babidi can't say the spell to seal him up), and then punches his head off in rebellion. Boo than blows the headless corpse up with a large energy blast. Babidi is seen in hell with Cell and Freeza but wanted the Z-Fighters to win after having created a grudge against Boo. Babidi later comes back in Dragon Ball GT and is killed by Yamucha. He's also a playable character in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Jōji Yanami. In the Ocean dub he was voiced by Terry Klassen. In the Funimation dub he was voiced by Duncan Brannan. In the English versions of the video games he was voiced by Bill Townsley.

Babidi's henchmen

Dabura

(Viz: Dabra)

Dabura (ダーブラ, Dābura) is the king of the Demon Realm, and Babidi's right-hand man, being placed under his control by a spell. Dabura has the special power of turning his enemies to stone, simply by spitting on them. His name is originally taken from a Japanese pronunciation of the last half of the incantation "Abracadabra". He fights Gohan in both his normal and Super Saiyan forms to gather energy for Buu, but before they can finish, he notices Vegeta has evil within him. During the fight, Vegeta shows great frustration which comes from the fact that Gohan has to make an effort to kill Dabura, even though Gohan is still more powerful than Dabura. This spawns from the fact Gohan has not trained at all in the past 7 years, apart from preparing for the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai with Goten, and is only slightly more than half as strong as he was when he fought Perfect Cell. This allows Babidi to grant him power. When Boo is released, Dabura first believes Buu is incomplete, due to his childish behavior and non-threatening appearance, making him the first to be beaten by Buu. He then tries to kill him when he realises that he is too powerful for Babidi to control, but he is turned into a cookie and devoured by Buu. It is estimated by Goku that Dabura is about as strong as Cell in his Perfect form..

In the anime, upon his death, Enma Daio decides that the usual punishment of exile to Hell is what Dabura would actually desire, so he instead sends him to the most peaceful region of Heaven. Dabura is later seen wandering as a "good-spirited" soul overactively consumed with love (creeping out anyone who meets him). Curiously, he was seen in GT as a villian again after the past villians were revived by the Dragon Balls and was destroyed by Gohan.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Ryūzaburō Ōtomo. In the Ocean dub he was voiced by Scott McNeil. For the Funimation dub, Rick Robertson did the voice.

Dabura's appearance is recycled in other works by Akira Toriyama such as Sand Land.

Pocus

(Funimation dub: Pui Pui)

Pocus is a minion of Babidi. His home planet, Zoon, has a gravity of 10 G's, which he believes is an advantage against other fighters. He is easily dispatched by Vegeta while guarding level 1 of Babidi's spaceship. He later makes a cameo appearance in the Super Artificial Human 17 Saga of Dragon Ball GT, where he is quickly killed by Goten while shooting a ki blast.

While not a playable character in any Dragon Ball Z games, he does make a cameo appearance in DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as one of Babidi's attacks. He also appears in Buu's Fury as a boss.

He is voiced by Tomohisa Asō in the Japanese version of the anime and by Shinobu Satōchi in the Japanese versions of Dragon Ball GT and the video games. He is voiced by Mike McFarland in the Funimation dub, and by Ted Cole in the Ocean Group dub.

Yakon

Yakon is one of Babidi's Majin minions. He is from a distant corner of the universe that has no light. He fights Son Goku on the second level of Babidi's spaceship. Yakon has the ability to feed off of energy attacks like the Kamehameha and strong ki auras like on from a Super Saiyan. In Buu's Fury, he can create miniature versions of himself called "Mini-Yakons". However, this may not be canon. Goku uses this ability to his advantage by powering up into a Super Saiyan which overloaded Yakon with energy, causing him to explode.

Yakon later makes a cameo appearance in the Super Artificial Human 17 Saga of Dragon Ball GT along with Pocus, but they both are killed by Trunks and Son Goten.

He is voiced by Yoshiyuki Kōno in the Japanese version. He is voiced by Paul LeBlanc in the Funimation dub, and by Michael Kopsa in the Ocean dub.

Like Pocus, Yakon is not a playable character in any Dragon Ball Z games, but make a cameo appearance as one of Babidi's attacks in Budokai Tenkachi 3. He also appears in Buu's Fury as a boss.

Bibidi

Bibidi (ビビディ, Bibidi) is a short wizard who brought Boo into existence millions of years ago. Quite likely drunk with the power of commanding such a creature, Bibidi embarked on a quest to dominate the universe. This quest involved the elimination of most of the Kaioshin that ruled the universe at the time. When Boo became disobedient, however, Bibidi prudently sealed Boo within a large purple Egg while going from world to world. He is eventually killed by East Kaioshin after setting Boo's egg on planet Earth. He isn't seen at all in the manga and is only seen in a few flashbacks during the anime of the Majin Boo Saga. His name is part of a word play from the classic Walt Disney motion picture, Cinderella: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, which in turn was based on European folklore.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Isamu Tanonaka. Like his son in the Funimation dub, he was also voiced by Duncan Brannan and in the Ocean dub by Terry Klassen.

Garlic Junior

Garlic Junior (ガーリック・ジュニア, Gārikku Junia) is a Makyoan that appears in Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone, and was the main villain during a filler saga in the anime. He was the first (and only) villain to be granted immortality by the Dragon Balls. His father was imprisoned by Kami in the realm of darkness, leaving Garlic Jr. with a deep feeling of resentment and desire for revenge. He collects the Dragon Balls and gains immortality. He is defeated when faced with an angry Gohan, who pushes Garlic Jr. into the Dead Zone, an alternate dimension he can freely open. Though defeated, he later reappears in the Garlic Jr. Saga in the gap between the Freeza and Trunks sagas, and battles once more against the combined efforts of Kuririn, Piccolo, and Son Gohan. He uses his power source, the Makyo world, to escape the Dead Zone, and uses the Aquamist, which causes those who breathed it in to become mindless demon slaves under his rule. He is stopped after Gohan destroys the Makyo world, which drains his power, leaving him trapped in the Dead Zone once again.

His resemblance is of a much earlier villain in the series, Pilaf. The two sound and almost look identical to each other, both being cunning and villainous dwarves voiced exactly the same way by Chuck Huber and Shigeru Chiba. However, whereas Pilaf is a mere comic relief character, Garlic Jr. is a much more serious and sadistic villain, a clear reflection of the change in the tone of the entire Dragon Ball series as a whole.

He is voiced in the original movie by Akira Kamiya and in the anime series by Shigeru Chiba. In the Funimation dub, Chuck Huber did his voice. In the Ocean dub of Dead Zone, he was voiced by Don Brown. In the Ocean dub of the Garlic Jr. Saga, Dave Ward did the voice.

Garlic Jr.'s henchmen

Ginger

Ginger is a short, green Makyoan henchman of The Original Spice Boys in the first movie. He appears to be Garlic Jr.'s right-hand man. His battle phrase is "Gingerbread" in the dub. While gathering the Dragon Balls, Ginger easily defeats Chichi and Gyumao and kidnaps Gohan for the Dragon Ball on his hat. After Goku arrives to rescue his son, Ginger and Nikki tag-team against him by pulling swords out of their legs. After being knocked off a tower they were fighting on, Ginger fires a ray at Goku but in response he fires a Kamehameha wave back at him and kills both Ginger and Nikki. He later returns in a cameo in movie 12.

His seiyū was Koji Totani. He was voiced by Terry Klassen in the Ocean dub and by Troy Baker in the Funimation re-dub.

Nikki

(Funimation dub: Nicky)

Nikki is a tall, white haired, blue Makyoan henchman of The Original Spice Boys from the Dead Zone film. His battle phrase is "Tutti Frutti" in the dub and "Naodome" in the original. He also appears to have a fondness for fruit, as shown when he and the others kidnapped Gohan, he was seen plucking several apples into his mouth. Afterwards, Nikki was assigned to watch over Gohan. It proved to be a daunting task. When Gohan ate a piece of fruit from a tree that was in the courtyard, he became delusional and started to see unusual things, much to Nikki's dismay. Later, when Goku and Kami arrived, Nikki pulled a sword out of his leg to fight Goku. Despite this, Goku used his Power Pole to knock Nikki into a nearby tower. He was then killed by a Kamehameha wave that also destroyed Ginger. Nikki later makes a cameo appearance in movie 12 but does not have any speaking lines.

He was voiced by Shigeru Chiba in the original Japanese, by Don Brown in the Ocean dub, and by Doug Burks in the Funimation re-dub.

Sansho

A large, grey, muscular Makyoan henchman of The Original Spice Boys with long red purple sideburns, he is the strong and silent type of the group. In the original Ocean dub, his battle phrase is "Pepperonni". However, in the Funimation re-dub his battle phrase has been changed to "Cheese". While in the Japanese version it is "Unaju" When Goku arrives to save Gohan, Sansho becomes separated from Ginger and Nikki. He tries to attack Kuririn but is stopped by Piccolo. Though he stated that he didn't need Ginger and Nikki's help to finish the Namekian off, he was still quickly slain after Piccolo punched him through several pillars and was destroyed by a ki blast. Sansho is later seen in movie 12.

He was voiced by Yukitoshi Hori in the Japanese version, by Ward Perry in the original Ocean dub, and by Eric Dillow in the Funimation re-dub.

Four Matriarchs

(English dub: Spice Boys)

Gayishu

(Funimation dub: Spice)

Gayishu is the Makyoan leader of the Four Matriarchs. He bears a strong resemblance to Zarbon in facial structure as well as clothing. However, his hair bears a considerable resemblance to Goku's as a Super Saiyan. Gayishu has light blue skin and pointy ears. Like Garlic Jr., his power increases when the Makyo world is in earth's orbit. He is killed after Gohan blasts him in the stomach. Later on in GT, Gayishu fights Gohan again when Hell is opened up but is killed again after a long battle. He also had a small cameo appearance in the Kid Boo arc, watching the fight between Goku and Kid Boo.

He is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa in the original Japanese version. In the original Funimation dub, he was voiced by Bart Myer and had a light-pitched Australian accent. Later on, in the re-release of the re-mastered season four box set, he was voiced by J. Michael Tatum and given a Vampire-like accent. In the Ocean dub, Gayishu's voice was done by Richard Cox.

Tarudo

(Funimation dub: Mustard)

Tarudo is a large, brawny muscle Makyoan of the Four Matriarchs; though he isn't as large as Vinaiga. He is frog-faced with bull horns and has long, red hair. He fights Kuririn and almost kills him. Shortly affter Gohan destroys Zald, Tarudo becomes enraged at Gohan and tries to attack him, but gets stunned by a kick from the young Saiyan and is killed by a Masenko. Tarudo is later killed by Gohan again after hell is opened up in GT.

In the original Funimation dub, he was voiced by Mark Britten and had a Scottish accent. However, in the re-release for the re-mastered season four box set, his voice was re-dubbed by Brandon Potter and he was given a more gruntish voice. Mark Oliver gave him a deep, serious voice tone in the Ocean dub.

Vinaiga

(Funimation dub: Vinegar)

Vinaiga is the largest member of the Four Matriarchs. He is a large, purple, Makyoan with dark-brown hair. He is also short tempered, and arrogant when it comes to fighting. Like Garlic Jr., his power increases when the Makyo world passes by Earth. Gohan blasts him in the stomach which destroys him. He also returns in GT after hell opens up, where he is once again destroyed by Gohan.

His seiyū is Daisuke Gori. He was voiced by Dave Ward in the Ocean dub and by John Freeman in the Funimation dub.

Zald

(Funimation dub: Salt)

Zald is a short, red Makyoan rogue of Garlic Jr.'s. He is the only member of the Four Matriarchs that doesn't have hair. He and Tarudo fight Gohan and Kuririn atop Kami's Lookout. He fights against Gohan and almost wins, but when Zald fires several ki blasts at the young Saiyan, Kuririn jumps in the way and takes damage instead. He is than killed by Gohan's Masenko that he learned from Piccolo. He wears Mongolian style clothing. He returns in GT after hell is opened up but is again destroyed by Gohan.

Zald was voiced by Dylan Thompson in the Funimation dub and by Don Brown in the Ocean dub.

Snake Princess

(English name: Princess Snake)

A giant snake temptress who lures people into her castle on Serpent Road. She also goes by the name Jadōshin. She became the Snake Princess in 739 B.C. and the only person who she ever tried to capture her was Enma Daio about 500 years ago. When Goku comes along, she tries to steal his heart, but his sense of loyalty to his family and friends is of course far too strong, so, she just turns into a giant fire-breathing snake and tries to eat him.

It is unknown whether Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chaozu and Yamucha were also captured by her on their way to meet North Kaio, or they simply ignored her castle and moved on. It could be possible that the Serpent Road has more relation to her, rather than to North Kaio. She later makes a cameo appearance in GT.

She does not appear in the manga by Akira Toriyama. Her seiyū is Mariko Mukai. In the Ocean dub, she was voiced by Ellen Kennedy and in the Funimation re-dub she is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard.

Dracula Man

Dracula Man (called Fangs the Vampire in the dub) is a vampire that appears in Dragon Ball. Normally, a prophecy from Uranai Baba costs Ƶ10,000,000,000 zeni, unless, all of her 5 fighters are defeated. Dracula Man is the first opponent. Dracula Man is a kick-boxing vampire, with the vampiric abilities to turn into a bat and also suck blood from humans.

Dracula Man is named after the titular vampire from Bram Stoker's Dracula, as well as following the "Man" name scheme of Uranai Baba's fighters.

Dracula Man's first (and only) appearance is in book number 9, where Son Goku and his friends try to find out where the last Dragon Ball is. Goku can't see the last ball on the radar, though Bulma can't find anything wrong with it. Muten Roshi suggest they can go to Uranai Baba (his sister), who is a witch, so she can predict where the Dragon Ball is. They found out they must defeat the 5 fighters, and Dracula Man is the first one. Kuririn challenges Dracula Man with a smile on his face, but the enemy turns into a bat, surprises Kuririn, and sucks out almost all blood he got. This makes Kuririn a good victim, as Dracula Man kicks him out of the arena, and Kuririn loses. Later, Dracula Man is defeated by Pu-erh and Upa.

In episode 138 of DBZ, one of the members of the biker gang that harasses the Artificial Humans in their search for Goku in the anime only looks like Dracula Man with the exception of his hair being black while the real Dracula Man's hair was red.

In the original Japanese version, he is voiced by Koji Totani. He was voiced by Robert McCollum in the Funimation dub.

Suke

Suke, (simpy known as See-Through the Invisible Man in the American version) is an Invisible Man. He is one of Baba's fighters. Yamucha volunteers to fight next and is surprised to learn that his opponent is an invisible man. Because he can't see him, Yamucha spends most of this fight getting slapped around. Goku nabs Bulma and Muten-Rôshi, then he has Kuririn swipe off Bulma's top, thus exposing her breasts. Seeing this, Muten-Rôshi suffers from his biggest nose bleed ever and covers the invisible man in blood making him possible to see and thus tangible. In the edited American version, Kuririn takes some tomato soup and dumps it on the invisible man. His name comes from the Japanese word sukeru (透ける), meaning "to be transparent".

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Hiroshi Ōtake and in the dub by Chuck Huber.

Mirra

Mirra (or simply known as Mummy in the english manga and Bandages the Mummy in the english anime) is a large mummy, and the third fighter in the Fortuneteller Baba arc. He fights Yamucha in the 5-on-5 match. Yamucha severly underestimates him, and judges that he is slow due to his size. However, Mirra surprises him by proving to be an incredibly fast fighter with brute strength to match. At first, Yamucha can't find any openings in Mirra's fighting style, but eventually knocks Mirra off the platform, and supposedly to his death in the acid below. Once again, Mirra surprises his foe by shooting one of his bandages onto the platform, and swinging back on. Mirra then pummels Yamucha, until he surrenders.

Up next, Mirra's opponent is Son Goku. This time, Mirra cannot find any openings in Goku's defense. Cautious, he decides to catch Goku off guard, and manages to land two powerful blows on Goku, supposedly knocking him out. But Goku simply gets back up and calmly walks towards him. Angry now, Mirra trys to punch Goku, but misses, and Goku punches him in the stomach. Though it was the first punch that he had felt throughout the entire fight, it is powerful enough to knock Mirra out, and Goku is the winner of round 3.

Though technically, he never appears again, Mirra can be seen alongside Akkuman in a filler episode. Here, the duo are seen giving their energy to an adult Goku, so that he can use the Super Genki-Dama to defeat Boo.

He is voiced by Shozo Iizuka in the original Japanese version and by Sonny Strait in the dub.

Akkuman

Akkuman (known as The Blue Demon in the Ocean dub, Spike the Devil Man or Spike in the Funimation dub, and as the Devilman in other English adaptations) was originally Uranai Baba's strongest fighter, but was bumped down one rank by Grandpa Son Gohan. His Akkumaito Kousen (lit. "Devilmite Beam") has the unusual ability to make people explode into pieces by expanding the evil inside of their heart; apart from that, his skill as a fighter is unbelievable, having won the Tenkaichi Budôkai twice in the past. He gave Son Goku a run for his money and tried to blow him to shreds, but unfortunately for him, he didn't know that Goku had a pure heart. He returns in Dragon Ball Z to give his energy to Goku's Super Genki-Dama. He also has a cameo appearance on a billboard in the Trunks Saga. His name is a pun on Akuma (悪魔 "devil"). It is never revealed if he is an actual demon, or simply a powerful human, however since he can use his wings to fly, they can be assumed to be real and not just part of his suit.

Note: His bio in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, refers to him as a real demon of the Underworld.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Michihiro Ikemizu and by Justin Cook in the English dub. In the Ocean Group dub of DBZ, he is voiced by Adam Henderson.

He appears in the DBZ game Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as a playable fighter. He also appears as a boss and playable character in Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure.

In Budokai Tenkaichi 3, there is a "What-If Story", where he fights Freeza and King Cold (who are waiting for Goku to return to Earth, so they can kill him). Akkuman is surprisingly able to defeat the pair (as well as two other soldiers), thanks to his Akkumaito Kousen (Devilmite Beam) technique.

Majin Boo

(English TV: Majin Buu, Viz: Djinn Boo)

Majin Boo was the evil demon that Bibidi sealed away, due to his extreme power and ruthless nature, on Earth millions of years before Dragon Ball. Bibidi's son, the wizard Babidi, would search for Boo in an attempt to revive him and continue his father's work.

Piccolo Daimao

(English dubs: King Piccolo)

Piccolo Daimao (ピッコロ大魔王, Pikkoro Daimaō) (lit. The Great Demon King Piccolo) was the evil half of the god of the earth (Kami). In order to become the earth's god, the then unnamed Namek purified himself of all evil thought. This negative energy took on physical form, becoming the villainous Piccolo. Being formed of pure, concentrated evil, he designated himself as the Great Demon King and laid siege to the world. Eventually, the Demon King was imprisoned by Mutaito in an electric rice cooker for centuries by the suicidal Mafu-ba (lit. Demon Containment Wave).

After being released from his confinement by Emperor Pilaf, Piccolo decides to kill all the current and former finalists of the Tenka'ichi Budôkai, thereby removing all those who might be able to learn the Mafuba attack which could be used to seal him away again. To aid him in this, he spawns several minions. Many people, including Kuririn, are killed by his minions, causing Goku and his friends to seek revenge. Goku eventually confronts him, only to easily be beaten.

Piccolo was then able to gather the Dragon Balls to summon Shen Long, who granted Piccolo's wish for the restoration of his youth, making him more powerful because he was returned to his physical prime. Piccolo then killed the dragon to prevent anyone else from making a wish that could stop him.

With no one left who could properly challenge him, Piccolo overthrew the King of the World and became the ruler of the Earth. He instituted several evil policies, such as releasing all criminals and creating a planned system of destruction. After a long and bloodlusting battle, Goku eventually defeated him, leading to his death.

Before dying, Piccolo regurgitated one last egg, reincarnating himself as Piccolo Ma Jr. (lit. Son of the Demon Piccolo) in order to pursue his revenge. However, this new body was that of a naturally born Namekian, rather than a concentration of evil energy. This curbed his cruelty somewhat, and eventually led to his reform and transformation into a heroic character.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Takeshi Aono and voiced by Christopher Sabat in the English dub. He is played by James Marsters in the live-action film.

Piccolo Daimao's minions

Piccolo Daimao created several offspring after his escape. However there is some inconsistency between them and the reproduction of regular Nameks. It can be assumed that the offspring's demonic appearance may be a result of Daimao being pure evil, and therefore supernatural in nature, although it is hinted that Daimao have some control over what they look like. They are, strangely, named after instruments, but perhaps this is because their progenitor, Piccolo, is named after one.

Piano

Piano is Piccolo Daimao's first minion, the longest living of Piccolo Daimao's mutant spawns. He is a pterodactyl humanoid figure, and is very bright. He is killed by Piccolo Daimao's crushing weight when Goku kicks Piccolo into him, killing him instantly, so we never know how strong he really is, although he is shown to be very powerful compared to a human.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Masato Hirano. In the english version, Piano is voiced by Brian Beacock.

Tambourine

Tambourine is Piccolo Daimao's second minion, He has green, scaly skin, wide yellow eyes, thick green lips, large wings, no nose, and a fin running across his head. His orders were to hunt down and assassinate all contenders who participated in the Tenka-ichi Budôkai from the most recent dating back to the past ten or more years so that Piccolo's hostile takeover is a smooth one. He was also ordered to pick up any Dragon Balls he sees along the way if he happened to come across any. Tambourine kills Kuririn by chance, along with five other participants of the past tournaments. He even beat a young Goku, who was weak from his battle with Tenshinhan and blinded with rage because Tambourine had just killed his best friend. Tambourine also destroyed the Kintoun (Nimbus) cloud for good, until Goku got a new one from Korin later in the series. Tambourine was vaporized by Goku's Kamehameha. He is also a playable character in Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Ryūsei Nakao. In the english version he is voiced by Dameon Clarke.

Cymbal

Cymbal is Piccolo Daimao's third minion. He resembles a humanoid plump dragon, most notably Giran. He is sent by Piccolo to search for the Dragon Balls. He is killed by Yajirobe, who slices him in half with his katana, then roasts him over a fire and eats him.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Daisuke Gōri. In the dub, he is voiced by Paul LeBlanc.

Drum

Drum is Piccolo Daimao's fourth minion. He is a wide, green monster, that resembles a massive Tambourine. Even though he is the shortest-lived evil spawn of Piccolo Daimao, up to this point he was the strongest since Piccolo created him when he was in his prime. Piccolo spits him out just as Tenshinhan arrives to try and trap Piccolo in the Mafu-ba. Drum attacks Tenshinhan, and clobbers him quite easily until Son Goku arrives, at which point Goku flies at him and kills him with a single kick to the head, his corpse is later vaporised by one of Piccolo Daimao's ki beams.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Daisuke Gōri. In the Funimation dub, Drum was voiced by Dan Woren.

While he has not yet been a playable character in any Dragon Ball related games, he does have a cameo role in Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as one of King Piccolo's moves.

Dragons

Black-Star Shenron

Black-Star Shenron (Funimation dub: Black Star Shenron) was made by Kami when he and Piccolo Daimao were still one entity. He can only be summoned by the "Black Star Dragon Balls". This dragon can grant any wish, including killing someone, something neither Porunga nor Shenron can do. After the wish has been made, the Dragon Balls spread around the galaxy; if the balls aren't brought back to the planet on which the wish was made, in a standard year, the planet will explode. He is also the largest of all the dragons, as his head alone is bigger than Kami's lookout. Unlike the regular Shenron and Porunga, the Black Star Shenron is red rather than green.

He is voiced by Daisuke Gori in the Japanese version and by Chris Sabat in the dub.

Evil Dragons

(Funimation dub: Shadow Dragons)

The Evil Dragons are a group of characters from Dragon Ball GT. They were born from overusing the Dragon Balls, as every wish creates negative energy that takes many years to dispel. Despite warnings from Rō Dai Kaiōshin, the Z Fighters have used the Dragon Balls much more often than that, and too much negative energy built up. This meant that the Dragon Balls had cracked, and when the Z Fighters tried to summon Shenlong at the end of the Super Android 17 Saga, the first Evil Dragon appeared instead, Evil Shenron informs the Z Fighters about the negative energy, and then split himself into seven more Evil Dragons, one for each Dragon Ball. The Evil Dragons are listed in order of the number of stars of their respective Dragon Balls.

Yi Xing Long

FUNimation dub: Syn Shenron (One-Star Dragon), Omega Shenron (with all seven Dragon Balls). Blue Water Dub: Ii Shenron.

The strongest of the evil dragons in this arc, he fought against Son Goku and Vegeta. He is the dragon of the One-Star Dragon Ball (Yishinnchu) and was created by the combination of all the negative energy gathered up in the Dragon Balls. After the other six evil dragons are released, the body of the evil Shenron ascends into the sky and becomes Yi Shing Long. At first, Yi Xing Long far overpowers Super Saiyan 4 Goku due to his fatigued state following the battles with the other evil dragons. After Goku is powered up by gathering ki from Goten, Gohan, and Trunks, Goku is able to match and overpower the evil dragon. Seeing a possible defeat, Yi Xing Long absorbs the other six Dragon Balls, and undergoes a massive powerup placing him vastly more powerful than both Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta and easily beats up both of them. Lacking the necessary power to defeat him in their Super Saiyan 4 forms, Goku and Vegeta used the Fusion Dance method to transform into Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. However, they were only able to maintain this state for 10 minutes, during which they were unable to destroy Yi Xing Long due to Gogeta not taking the fight seriously. After separating back into Goku and Vegeta, they implemented a new tactic that permitted Goku to gather energy from every planet in the universe in order to finally destroy the evil dragon. Yi Xing Long is the most powerful non-fusion character in the Dragonball franchise. In his regular form, his One-Star Dragon Ball is located on his forehead, after absorbing the other six Dragon Balls, all seven of them appear on his chest with his One-Star ball in the center. In Budokai Tenkaichi 2 his transformed state is called Super Yi Shinlong.

In his first form, he was voiced by Bob Carter and in his final form he was voiced by Christopher R. Sabat in the dub. He is voiced by Hidekatsu Shibata in the original Japanese version.

Liang Xing Long

Liang Xing Long Liǎng Xīng Lóng (二星龍, Rianshinron, lit. "Two-Star Dragon") (Funimation dub: Haze Shenron) is a dragon-like villain and the first of the seven Evil Dragons to appear. Liang Xing Long came into being when Son Goku used the Dragon Balls to bring Bora back to life after Taopaipai had killed him. When Goku made his wish, Negative Energy increased within the Dragon Balls, particularly within the Èr Xīng Qiú (Kanji: 二星球; katakana: アルシンチュウ, Rōmaji: Arushinchū, English: Two-Star Ball). When the Dragon Balls became completely corrupted by Negative Energy, the Er Xing Qui flew into a lake and transformed into Liang Xing Long.

The Evil Dragon's power was to use his Negative Energy to pollute water and slowly kill all surrounding life. He claimed to be the most powerful of the Evil Dragons but Wu Xing Long claimed to be the strongest as well. Wu Xing Long also said that Liang Xing Long was really the weakest. Another was Qi Xing Long (the strongest was really Yi Xing Long).

He was voiced by Chafurin in the Japanese version and by Bradford Jackson in the english dub.

San Xing Long

San Xing Long Sān Xīng Lóng (三星龍, Sanshinron, lit. "Three-Star Dragon") (Funimation dub: Eis Shenron) is the Dragon of Ice and is also Si Xing Long's brother. San Xing Long joins the fight against Son Goku. San Xing Long was born when Mr. Popo wished for all who were killed by Freeza and his henchmen back to life during Goku's battle with Freeza on the original Planet Namek. Unlike his brother, he doesn't show compassion and will do whatever it takes to win a fight. He is much more dishonorable and cowardly than his brother, hiding behind Pan's unconscious body when convenient, and blinding Son Goku in order to make the fight easier. Son Goku eventually proved he didn't need to see in order to beat him, and killed San Xing Long with a Super Dragon Fist while still blind. He also has the power to manipulate ice and moisture. Some of his moves are ice beam, a blast that freezes people, he can change the background to pure ice, he can blind people, and he can shoot a cannon through his hand. Though he has not yet been a playable character in any Dragon Ball games, he did appear as an alternate costume for his brother in Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3.

He is voiced by the late Kaneto Shiozawa in the Japanese version and by Jerry Jewel in the Funimation dub.

Si Xing Long

Si Xing Long Sì Xīng Lóng (四星龍, Sūshinron, lit. "Four-Star Dragon") (Funimation dub: Nuova Shenron) , the Dragon of Fire, Si Xing Long controls the fire element and is able to both use strong fire attacks and be unaffected by them. Initially his skin is covered by a magma-looking armor that boosts his defense but slows him down, eventually he gets rid of that shell and reveals his orange colored skin. some of his moves are Nova Star, he can make shield a of fire, Nova Death Ray, a barrage of ki blasts made out of fire, a fire energy wave, a fire meteor and he can increase his temperature to be hotter than the sun. He is also extremely fast, shown to be faster than Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta. He watches his brother (San Xing Long) fight Goku, but is killed by Yi Xing Long when he attempted to give Goku the cure to his eyes (he saved Goku from being shot but got struck instead). He is temporarily revived when Goku eats the Four-Star Dragon Ball, but is soon killed and absorbed by Yi Xing Long again. Of all the dragons he is the only one which shows compassion towards other beings (this is due to the fact that he has a sense of honor and does not like to fight and win unfairly), this trait would eventually lead to him reforming and befriending Goku during the battle. It is ironic since the Four-Star Dragon Ball was the one which Goku treasured the most. This is due to the fact when he was smaller, Goku believed the four-star ball carried the spirit of Grandpa Gohan and kept it always with him to remember him by. Even though Goku won the fight in the end he spared Si Xing Long's life because he spared Pan when he could have killed her. He tries to help Goku and Vegeta but was killed yet again and his Dragon Ball was reabsorbed by Yi Shing Long in the final battle.

Si Xing long, was born when Piccolo Daimao/Demon King Piccolo wished for youth when Son Goku was around fifteen years of age. This, the only evil wish to have borne an Evil Dragon, along with Goku's connection to the Four-Star Ball, may explain why Si Xing Long was the lone Evil Dragon that turned out to be good.

He was voiced by Ken Yamaguchi in the original version and by John Burgmeier in the Funimation version.

Wu Xing Long

Wu Xing Long Wǔ Xīng Lóng (五星龍, wushinron, lit. "Five-Star Dragon") (Funimation dub: Rage Shenron) carries the power of electricity. He creates a slimy substance that draws the energy out of any object that it touches; the energy is then transferred to his body as strength. The more Wu Xing Long absorbs, the larger he gets, which turns out to be his downfall. Just as he is about to kill Son Goku, rain starts to fall. It turns out that he expanded himself too large and had nowhere to hide from the precipitation, which ultimately short-circuited him out. Although Wu survived the short-circuit, Goku killed him as soon as it was apparent that Wu Xing Long still wanted to eliminate Goku, and the Dragon Ball embedded in the dragon was restored. Some of his moves are Dragon Thunderblast and Dragon Thundercloud.

Wu Xing Long was born when Son Goku was wished back to life before Vegeta and Nappa landed on planet Earth.

He is voiced by Mike McFarland in the Funimation version and in the original Japanese version by the late Hirotaka Suzuoki.

Liu Xing Long

Liu Xing Long Liù Xīng Lóng (六星龍, Riushinron, lit. "Six-Star Dragon") (Funimation dub: Oceanus Shenron), The Dragon of Water and Wind, dons the persona of Princess Oto. Because she captures schools of fish and rains them down on the villagers, the fishermen don't have to fish, and the people in this small fishing village worship her as a god. However, a young villager is suspicious of her, since the seagulls had been acting strangely since her arrival. When asked which wish she was born from, Liu Xing Long becomes angry and embarrassed. This is because she was born when Oolong wished for a pair of women's panties before Pilaf could complete his wish (the first time the Dragon Balls were used in the series actually). Her powers revolve around hurricanes: She can generate a hurricane as defense, with the wind diverting any attack that hits it, as well as for offense, with the wind causing damage to anything and anyone it touches. some of her moves are air shattering energy ball, mighty hurricane fury, whirlwind spin, and she can deflect moves by saying deflect. Liu Xing Long can also use wind to put up a disguise to make herself appear far more beautiful (in the form of Oto) than her true appearance, which is closer to an ogre. Her tornado's weakness was discovered when the seagull that the young villager was nursing flies to the top of the tornado and then goes straight down to Liu Xing Long, attacking her directly. Taking advantage of this newfound weakness, Pan flies also to the top of the tornado and launches a Kamehameha at the dragon, giving Goku the distraction he needed to launch his own Kamehameha and kill the dragon.

In the english dub, her Oto form is voiced by Julie Mayfield and her true form is done by Steve Sanders. While in the original Japanese version, her Oto form is done by Masako Katsuki and her true form is done by Ryûzaburô Ôtomo, who also voiced Dabura in DBZ.

Qi Xing Long

Qi Xing Long Qī Xīng Lóng (七星龍, Chīshinron, lit. "Seven-Star Dragon") (Funimation dub: Naturon Shenron) is one of the seven Evil Dragons, and is the dragon of earthquakes. Qi Xing Long was born when Bulma wished for the people killed by Vegeta in the Tenkaichi Budōkai to be revived. When Goku, Pan and Giru were searching for the Dragon Balls, Qi Xing Long was the 4th Dragon they found. Goku defeated Qi Xing Long, but then the evil dragon tricked Pan and absorbed her. Because of this, Goku was forced to hold back to avoid killing his granddaughter. The dragon gained much power, but in his arrogance allowed Goku to retrieve Pan, destroy Qi Xing Long and get the Qi Xing Qiu.

Brice Armstrong did his english voice and his seiyū was Shin Aomori.

Evil Shen Long

(Funimation dub: Black Smoke Shenron)

In Dragon Ball GT, after the death of Super 17, Son Goku and his friends put together the seven Dragon Balls. Instead of Shen Long, a cigar-smoking black dragon appears, that represents the negative energy that accumulated for many years (because the Dragon Balls use positive energy). This dragon is then divided into seven evil dragons, one for every Dragon Ball and wish that was made in 30-40 years ago in the past.

He was voiced by Daisuke Gori in the original version and by Christopher R. Sabat in the Funimation dub.

Porunga

Porunga is Namek's wish granting dragon, summoned when all the Dragon Balls of Namek are gathered. He is more brutal looking than the dragon of Earth, Shen Long, with a heavily muscled upper body and traits that resemble a Namekian, although he acts a bit friendlier. He is three times as large as Shen Long.[volume & issue needed] He is also somewhat stronger and can grant three wishes instead of one, so long as it doesn’t exceed his creator's power, his creator is still alive, and each request is delivered in the Namekian dialect.

Initially, Porunga had the ability to bring only one person back to life at a time (though he could bring people back multiple times), as compared to Shen Long who can bring back an unspecified number of people but can only do so once. Later, Porunga's power is strengthened to bring back as many lives as needed. A powerful god known as Rou Dai Kaioshin criticized this as "a blasphemous act that disrupts the order of nature" but did not seem to mind after that. Rou Dai's warnings proved real when the Shadow Dragons appeared from the abuse of the Earth's dragonballs.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Junpei Takiguchi and Daisuke Gōri. He was voiced by Don Brown in the ocean dub and in the Funimation dub by Christopher R. Sabat.

Shen Long

(Harmony Gold dub: Dragon God,[7] English dub: Shenron, Viz: Shenlong)

Shen Long (神龍, lit. "Dragon God" or "Divine Dragon"), is the wish granting dragon of Earth. The Shen Long of the Black Star Dragon Balls is red, opposed to the Shen Long of Earth who is green.

Shen Long can be summoned by gathering all seven of the Dragon Balls of Earth. Shen Long can bestow any wish as long as it does not exceed the power of his creator, who must be still alive (i.e. Kami or Dende). Multiple times in the Dragon Ball series, Shen Long threatens to kill the summoner if they do not say a wish on time, or if they do not say a wish at all. Shen Long cannot bring back a person from the dead more than once. The Dragon Balls cannot be used for 365 Earth days after a wish is made, as they turn to stone. The Earth Dragon Balls are relatively small, each about the size of a large orange, much smaller than the Namekian Dragon Balls, which are the size of bowling balls.

The base for Shen Long is a stone statue kept by his creator. If Shen Long is killed, the Dragon Balls turn to stone. The same is true if the statue shatters. If the creator or another Namekian wishes to; though apparently the Namekian must belong to certain group of Namekians (all of which Kami, Piccolo, and Dende are part of) who are able to create Dragon Balls, they can rebuild the statue to give life back to Shen Long and the Dragon Balls. This happened after Shen Long granted Piccolo Daimao's wish for youth.

While Kami and Piccolo weren't merged, Shen Long could only grant one wish. After Dende brought him back to life, he was able to grant two wishes (three if the first does not revive more than one at a time). If the summoner wants, he can only make one wish. This makes the Dragon Balls turn to stone for only four months.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Kenji Utsumi (DB, DBZ up to latter part of Freeza Saga, and Dragon Ball video vames) and Masaharu Satō (DBZ end of Freeza Saga and on). In the Ocean dub, he was voiced by Don Brown and in the Funimation dub he was voiced by Christopher R. Sabat.

In Cross Epoch, a crossover by Akira Toriyama and Eiichiro Oda, Shen Long holds a tea party exactly at 3:00 the day after he grants a wish.
