MLS Cup 2005, the 10th edition of Major League Soccer's championship match, was played between the New England Revolution and the Los Angeles Galaxy to decide the champion of the 2005 season. The game was played at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on November 13, 2005. In a rematch of MLS Cup 2002, Los Angeles Galaxy again beat New England Revolution 1–0 in overtime, this time on a goal from Guillermo Ramírez.
Ramirez had been benched during the season for lack of goals. During the regular season, Ramirez lack of scoring efficiency was historically low by MLS standards – scoring no goals from 62 shots in open play (his lone goal coming from a penalty). Despite his scoring slump, he came on an as a substitute and provided the cup-winner. However, due to his poor form the Galaxy decided against continuing his loan spell and allowed him back to Guatemalan team CSD Municipal.
