Mera is a census town in Nirsa CD Block in Dhanbad district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Mera had a population of 7,051, of which 3,801 were males and 3,250 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 1,885 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 236.[1]

As of 2001 India census,[2] Mera had a population of 5,199. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Mera has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 64%, and female literacy is 42%. In Mera, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Literacy

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Mera was 4,435 out of which 2,663 were males and 1,772 were females.[1]
