Layout issues[edit]

Hello. There may be layout issues using this template when placed in its recommended See also section and the References section immediately follows. It may need an implicit {{clear}} or equivalent. An example is at the Anna Nicole Smith article. I have posted a message about it at the article's talk page here when my explicit {{clear}} addition was reverted. When the width resolution is about 1024 or less, the box interferes with the references layout below.
1024 is a very common and convenient resolution for reading, versus a full-width window, a resolution that is also mentioned in the Manual of Style (although in the section about images, WP:LAYIM). Although wider monitors are common, reading paragraphs extending horizontally forever is inconvenient; narrower windows also allow to work using multiple documents at a time, each in its own window/column.
In this example article, the references start being able to display properly when at a resolution width of about 1236 and over. It is unclear to me yet if it would be best to modify {{reflist}} instead, but so far when I notice this a portal template is involved. Thanks, — PaleoNeonate — 01:18, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

I obtained a satisfactory answer to my questions at the reflist template talk page. Thanks, — PaleoNeonate — 02:05, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Trump Portal Image[edit]

Hi, File:Donald Trump official portrait (cropped).jpg has been deleted by commons 03:40, 6 June 2017, so I would suggest replacing with File:Donald Trump Pentagon 2017.jpg or File:Donald Trump official portrait colorized and cropped.jpg - Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 12:53, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

@KylieTastic: I've used the first one, which I think is slightly more recognisable at this small size. -- John of Reading (talk) 13:21, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
@John of Reading: I agree, thanks. KylieTastic (talk) 13:31, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello, can you change "women's association football" to File:Football féminin icon-fr.svg? Thanks! --NaBUru38 (talk) 16:31, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

The current icon was chosen in 2013 by Hmlarson (talk · contribs). I'll wait 24 hours to see if Hmlarson has any opinion on it. I think the new icon is clearer. -- John of Reading (talk) 16:43, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
NaBUru38 - What is your rationale for the change? I'm not aware of you being active in this topic on wikipedia (cc: John of Reading) I personally don't like the pink icon. Hmlarson (talk) 18:19, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Not done @NaBUru38: Since this needs a discussion, I've disabled the edit request. I suggest you post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women's sport so that the editors most interested in the subject can discuss it there. (Pinging Hmlarson also). -- John of Reading (talk) 19:35, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force is more specific/relevant. Hmlarson (talk) 21:39, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Dear Hmlarson, the current logo is nearly impossible to see. The logo I proposed is easer to see. I don't claim it's the best ever, but it's a major improvement. --NaBUru38 (talk) 16:23, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Suggest a change in the Portal Indian religions from File:Taj Mahal pr.jpg to File:Dharmic religions.jpg. (Another possibility would be File:Dharmic religions symbols.jpg).

Three main problems with current symbol:

  1. The Taj Mahal is not a symbol of religion. It is a remarkable mausoleum and a great piece of architecture, but not a symbol of religion.
  2. The article Indian religions says in the first sentence: "Indian religions, sometimes also termed as Dharmic faiths or religions, are the religions that originated in the Indian subcontinent; namely Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism." Should not a symbol be used that represents these Indian religions, instead of one that only represents Islam (or rather Islamic architecture)?
  3. When one looks at the image, it is impossible to see what the image represents. Because of the small display size, it is simply impossible to decipher it. (see the image at the bottom of this article Indian religions) -- (talk) 11:37, 2 August 2017 (UTC)-- (talk) 11:37, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
Here are the images scaled to the right size. File:Dharmic religions.jpg is surprisingly clear, so I support this suggestion. I will post at Portal talk:Indian religions and wait 48 hours to see if any more comments turn up. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:05, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Suggest a change in the Portal religion from File:P_religion_world.svg to File:ReligionSymbol.svg.

The article on World religions says that the four largest world religions by far are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Other religions have much less followers. The article World religions says that Hinduism and Buddhism are included in the major world religions.

To be neutral and true, it should include all of the four major religions. Instead, it includes 2 smaller religions or philosophies which have less followers globally (Judaism, which has less followers than Falun Gong, and Yin Yang (Chinese Philosophy)). -- (talk) 12:09, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Some pages already use this symbol, see [1]. -- (talk) 12:36, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
I agree with your reasoning, but this six-symbol image is not clear at this small size. Is there a suitable image with better contrast? -- John of Reading (talk) 13:12, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

@Arka.tukai: That image is hard to understand at this small size. Perhaps an image from commons:category:Video camera icons would be better - what do you think? -- John of Reading (talk) 13:11, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Template-protected edit request on 7 August 2017 MIlitary history of France[edit]

Hello. The file file:France Ancient.svg, used as icon for the "Military history of France" has been superseded and widely replaced by the more standard and lighter file file:Arms of the Kings of France (France Ancien).svg. Could an admin perform the replacement here ? Kathisma (talk) 15:21, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. It's not that I think it's really a problem, but probably there needs to be a formal consensus at Portal talk:Military history of France before we proceed.
