Im Jin-ah (born September 14, 1991), known by her stage name Nana, is a South Korean singer, actress and model. She is a member of girl group After School and its subgroup Orange Caramel.

Early life

Nana was born on September 14, 1991.[2] She graduated from Ochang High School in Cheongju,[3] and was a participant in the 2009 Asia Pacific Super Model Contest.[4] Nana is a licensed makeup artist and also has membership in the Makeup Artists Association.[5]

Career

2009–2013: Debut with After School and Orange Caramel

In November 2009, Nana and Raina debuted in After School as third generation members. They debuted with the group for the release of their second single, "Because of You". In June 2010, Nana, along with After School members Raina and Lizzy formed a sub-unit called Orange Caramel. Nana's first solo song, "Close Your Eyes", was included on Orange Caramel's single album, "Shanghai Romance". Nana was a member of After School's temporary sub-unit A.S. Red with Kahi, Uee, and Jungah, and promoted "In The Night Sky" in 2011.[6] In 2012, Nana had a solo song included on After School's Flashback maxi-single, titled "Eyeline".[7] In 2012, she joined K-pop stars Hyolyn, Hyuna, Hyoseong, and Nicole to form a super group called Dazzling Red. They performed a charity single called "This Person".[8]

In 2012, Nana was a runway model for the Japanese fashion show Girls’ Award, Park Yoon-yoo's Seoul Fashion Walk S/S 2012, and the Tokyo Girls Collection 2012 Spring/Summer.[4] She also became the main model for Korea's biggest diet brand, Juvis,[9] and was a permanent panelist on the Japanese fashion TV show, Tokyo Brandnew Girls.[10]

2014–present: Roommate and start of acting career

During Orange Caramel's promotions for "Catallena" in March 2014, it was announced that Nana would be a member on a new variety show on SBS called Roommate. The show features 11 celebrities living in one house.[11] Starting in April, Nana was a host for the second season of OnStyle's Style Log, along with Hong Jong-hyun and Cho Min-ho.[12] In August–October 2014, Nana participated in the fashion elimination show Muse Dress on Chinese television.[13] While on the show, Nana was praised by the judges and ended up in second place on the final round. The second season of Roommate began airing on September 21, with Nana as a returning cast member. She also had a cameo role in the film Fashion King, which was released on November 6, 2014.[14]

In November 2014, Nana was cast in the Chinese television drama, Love Weaves Through A Millennium, a remake of the Korean drama Queen In-hyun's Man (2012).[15] The drama aired in February and March 2015 on Hunan TV. In June 2015, Nana was cast in a Chinese romantic comedy film, the sequel to Go Lala Go![16] Nana was ranked Number 1 on the Independent Critics List of the 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2014.[17] She won again in 2015.[18][19][20][21][22][23][24]
