Pelita Harapan University (Indonesian: Universitas Pelita Harapan, UPH) is a private Christian university in Lippo Village (ID, see: Lippo Karawaci), Tangerang, Indonesia, under Pelita Harapan Education Foundation (Indonesian: Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan).[citation needed]
UPH was the first university in Indonesia to introduce programs entirely taught in English, the first to offer a liberal arts curriculum, and the first to introduce a multi-disciplinary approach to its programs.[citation needed]
History
UPH was founded in 1994.[citation needed]
In 2006, UPH opened two residence halls, one of which was the MYC Dormitory.[1] Students at the university's teacher's college are assigned to the Teacher College Dormitory, which opened in July.[2]
In 2007, the university opened UPH Surabaya.[3]
Secondary school
UPH has an affiliated secondary school, called UPH College, which also has a student dormitory.[5]
Sports
UPH has a winning basketball team called UPH Eagles. During two seasons in the years 2015 and 2016, Rivaldo Pangestio was crowned most valued player (MVP).[citation needed] In 2015, the Eagles won first place in LIMA (Liga Mahasiswa).[6]
