Roblin is a town in Manitoba, Canada. It is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Shell River and is northwest of Russell, Manitoba.
Including the surrounding areas of the Rural Municipality of Shell River, the Rural Municipality of Hillsburg and the Rural Municipality of Shellmouth-Boulton, the population is 1,774. Roblin acts as a regional centre for towns as far as 100 kilometres away, which gives it a large catchment population.
Roblin railway station is served by Via Rail.
History
The Post Office was established in 1904 as Goose Lake and was located on 8-26-28W. The first Postmaster was W. Atkey. The name was changed to Roblin later that year in honor of then Premier Sir Rodmond Palen Roblin.
Roblin was the location of the former Saint Vladimir's College.
Recreation
Betty Nykyforak has been the mayor since 2010.
Roblin has a strong baseball program, where teams usually make it to provincials. There is no senior baseball, but there is a Fastball team named the Roblin Goblins. The girls have won in the years 2007, 2008, and captured 1st again in 2010.
Roblin boasts strong high school sports, especially in the area of basketball where the varsity boys have won double A provincials 3 years in a row and volleyball.
Roblin is home to the Roblin North Stars senior hockey club. They won the North Central Hockey League in 1991-1992.
The Roblin North Stars, the local hockey team, has been running for over 23 years.
Roblin has excellent fishing both inside the town limits and within a short drive to Lake of the Prairies.
Located between Duck Mountain Provincial Park and Riding Mountain National Park, Roblin boasts excellent white tail and large game hunting.
Roblin has a well maintained and challenging 9 hole golf course, outdoor swimming pool, ice arena, curling rink, movie theater.
