This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Zanderredux (talk | contribs) at 07:45, 16 December 2015 (→‎List of metropolitan cities: - since Seoul has no corresponding Hanja, might as well just add Seoul to the Hanja side for completeness). Notes
  • There is no hanja for "Seoul," but in Chinese, it is written by its Joseon Dynasty name Hanseong (漢城). The new Chinese name, (首爾/首尔; pinyin: Shǒu'ěr), is a transcription based on the pronunciation of "Seoul". As a suffix, the character Gyeong (/[京] Error: {{Lang}}: script: kore not supported for code: ko (help)) is used, which means "capital".
