TPI (Indonesian Education Television) is an Indonesian private television station based in East Jakarta. TPI was established by Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana, the first daughter of Suharto. Owned by the MNC Group, it began broadcasting on 23 January 1991.

It began broadcasting only educational programs, but have since become similar to other Indonesian TV stations, showing programs such as quizzes and "sinetron" soap operas, reality tv, sport, and lately, dangdut, some people even calling it "Dangdut Television" because of programs such as a dangdut competition and a dangdut quiz program.

History

TPI was created as a educational television station made by TVRI in 1991, and at the moment broadcast as a programming block on TVRI. TPI was share its moment with TVRI until mid-2001 when TPI stopped its educational programming.

As from 2002, TPI focused to one of many dangdut programs, and made 'more Indonesian' to any other programme. It was also got a certificate when broadcasted Kuis Dangdut and also Santapan Nusantara. Currently, it has its relationship with RCTI and Global TV since 2006.
