– "Regental" is the proper form to use for this case, just as "mayoral" is the proper form in the 2018 Bandung mayoral election and other such elections, see wikt:regental. Regency only relates to the subdivision and not the office of regent, which is too broad. –twotwofourtysix(talk || edits) 02:43, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Twotwofourtysix: I think "regency election" is the more common word in English-language RS and (admittedly not as good) translated official sources:
  • Jakarta Post - [1]: "... for the Sleman regency election ..."|
  • ISEAS - [2] (p3): "ran in Malang’s regency election 2015 but lost"
  • MK - [3]: "Dispute over Barru Regency Election"
  • KPU - [4]: " in the 2018 Sampang Regency Election"
Using Google exact search ("regental election" Indonesia vs "regency election" Indonesia) gives ~6,250 results vs 120. "Regent election" gives ~6,700, though, so if anything changes it should be to that. But IMO, most "regent election" results seems to be relatively poorly translated bachelors' theses, not major English-language news outlets. Juxlos (talk) 17:48, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
