2024 Nepal Premier Leauge
[edit]The league is being played in it's entirety in 2024. I don't see a reason that the article should have 2024-25 instead. PenGear (talk) 16:25, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- The first edition of Nepal Premier League will be played in the 2024–25 cricketing season which starts from approximately late September and end on March so this is named as 2024–25 Nepal Premier League insted of 2024 Nepal Premier League, further more you can see the others league such as 2024–25 Sheffield Shield season, 2024–25 SA20, 2024–25 Plunket Shield season etc.Godknowme1 (talk) 09:14, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Sheffield Shield and Plunket Shield is going to be held from 2024 to 2025. SA20 is called 2025 SA20 almost everywhere except on Wikipedia. So shouldn't WP:COMMONNAME apply? 2025 Bangladesh Premier League will also be played in the 2024–25 season, but only uses the year it will be played in, same goes for 2024 Pakistan Super League. - Well the article you mentioned should have started 2024–25 instead of 2024. Since wikipedia's article is maintained by editors like you and us there is some disparity in naming these articles if they played in 2024–25 seasons then these articles should moved and you can starts discussion on respective articles talk page.Godknowme1 (talk) 07:34, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- For franchise T20 cricket tournaments, we generally use the year it's played in not the season (which is opposite of the rest of cricket articles I know). Probably needs a wider WP:CRIC discussion on naming, as 2024 would be more consistent with other T20 franchise leagues. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:17, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

2024–25 Nepal Premier League → 2024 Nepal Premier League – Event takes place wholly in 2024 (despite being in 2024-25 cricket season). For T20 tournaments like these, we generally use the actual year it's in rather than the cricket season it's in, so 2024 would be consistent with other T20 tournaments. As per above, there is some debate, so an RM to get consensus seem sensible to me. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:04, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support – The name in which the event was held suits better than the cricket season. For example, 2025 International League T20 will be held in the 2024–25 cricket season but it is named according to the year the event is held rather than the season.
