John Laws

[edit]

This article tends to imply that John Laws was at 2UE from 1956 to 2007. He wasn't, and was at a number of other Sydney stations over this period as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andjb (talkcontribs) 05:44, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2UE Logo?

[edit]

No logo??

GLENN WHEELER: By golly, that section sure is useless and terribly written.

I agree, gee let's not talk much about the main names on 2UE, let's focus on the weekend and overnight presenter!! Andjb 03:21, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New logos needed

[edit]

We need some new logos for the Fairfax radio stations we should keep the old ones as historical reference, We need new logos for i.e. 3AW, 4BC etc They need to be compliant with Wikipedia logo usage policies, and should be placed on the appropriate articles as Southern Cross broadcasting is no longerAdrian90 (talk) 08:09, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History of ownership needed on this page

[edit]

It would be great if someone who knows the history would write it up for this page. 202.83.106.171 (talk) 16:30, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, particularly as the Macquarie Radio Network has very recently been merged with the Fairfax Radio Network of Fairfax Media

Hopefully, I've now done that in various sections, depending on in which decade the change took place. I think I've listed all 2UE owners, but I'd be grateful for further information.Albert Isaacs (talk) 01:20, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2EU Myth

[edit]

G'day Guys. I've cleaned up the erroneous references to 2EU, this myth was put to bed several years ago by Ron Langhans. There's still a lot of work to be done, but at least a start has been made. Hope everyone is happy with the edits.--Samuel.dellit (talk) 23:05, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Samuel, I know nothing about Ron Langhams. I've Googled him in, but can't find any reason for dispelling the oft documented story of 2EU. In particular, if the story isn't fact, why did Pa Stevenson of Electric Utilities, use the call-sign 2UE from the beginning. Please let me have more details.

Regards, Albert Isaacs (talk) 06:01, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Samuel, Despite numerous requests for evidence that the name 2EU was never used, unfortunately none has been forthcoming and, thus, the section re 2UE has been reinstated with extra references, and with the following footnote There are some radio enthusiasts who claim that the name 2EU was never actually used, although there is little or no evidence to support this theory.

Dear Samuel,

I have just received an email from Bruce Carty, author of On the Air". In his 2EU entry he states: "Changed their callsign to 2UE shortly after opening". However he now takes a different stance which is part-way between your stated position and that in his book. He now claims that: "2EU was the requested callsign on their application, but they contacted the authorities before the licence was issued and requested a change to 2UE". I have asked Bruce to provide me with his source for this new position - once I have it, I will modify the appropriate section.

Of course, I'll keep you in the loop re this.

Regards,

Dear Samuel,

Bruce has emailed me a copy of the original 2UE licence, which is in his collection. Based on this new information, I have revised the 1920s entries for 2EU and 2UE.

Bruce also tells me that the two of you have been in contact re other radio matters.

Regards,
