This is definitely original research. It would not pass if brought to WP:RSN. The problem is domain name /web page expiration may linger for a year or more since these things are typically pre-paid. It's possible a company merged, or changed names. Or they are no longer be visible online but still exist.

I would suggest, rather than asserting a fact we don't know, state what we know: "The company website ceased functioning as of XYZ date" and leave it to the reader to decide. Also, the archive.org citation needs more explanation as it's not clear what is being linked and why. Recommend "The company website apparently ceased to function sometime between September 4, 2007 and February 14, 2008 according to Wayback Machine archives." as part of the ref so its clear to the reader why the Wayback Machine link is being used as a ref and a date range. -- GreenC 14:26, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing this up. The company's old website www.absaerolight.com currently is being used by some unrelated Chinese company, which is common practice. These companies often buy up defunct domains and cybersquat on them, hoping that people looking for the old, defunct company will find their products instead. In May 2015 the website domain actually had a "for sale" sign on it. If the company had been merged, bought out or otherwise still existed in most cases the old domain would redirect to the new website domain name, so as not to lose customers. These are just common business practices these days, although there is no proof that this is what happened in this specific case. When I wrote this I did do a careful search to see if the company was being perpetuated anywhere or in any way, but drew a blank, just as any past customers looking for the company would most likely do. It seems reasonable to conclude the the company just shut down and that some time after that their website went offline, which we know happened "sometime between September 4, 2007 and February 14, 2008", as you noted. My conclusion from all the available information is reflected as "The company appears to have gone out of business in late 2007". This is the best information we have, which is why it is worded in a tentative manner, and footnoted it to let readers know where this came from. This is an attempt to provide the best information possible for readers, although if we want to go with what we know 100%, all we can say is that by Feb 2008 the website was offline and the company could not be located. - Ahunt (talk) 18:47, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
