Of course Abbasids had no direct rule over Ifriqiya since 800, but Aghlabids were their representative rulers until overthrown by Zinid Emirs who would rule on behalf of Fatimids. We generally include Emirates of Caliphates as part of the Caliphates (unless declared independence like Zinids did in 1048, withdrawing from Fatimid Caliphate). What is your alternative for Abu Yazid's categorization? category:People of Aghlabid Emirate (which is wp:smallcat i think)?GreyShark (dibra) 09:16, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Greyshark09: I sort of guessed that was what you were driving at, but a) it was not 'Abbasid' in any real way in the 10th century (BTW we already have Category:People of the Aghlabid dynasty), and more importantly b) Abu Yazid is notable for his activity under the Fatimids, so any categorization concerning the Aghlabids is rather irrelevant. To take an (extreme) example, it would be like categorizing Hitler under "Austro-Hungarian people". Technically correct, but practically pointless, if not misleading: he lived in AH, but he is not really relevant to Austria-Hungary (and hence the people of AH category), as a topic, nor is he really noteworthy (during his time) as a citizen of AH. Agree on the category name. The reason I went for that is that the parent category is "Aghlabids" rather than "Aghlabid Emirate", so by rights the category should be "People of the Aghlabids", but this is not really correct English. Feel free to propose a multi-category move (my suggestion is to move the parent cat and "Battles involving the Aghlabids" as well for consistency).
