Danish game board and rules by Brio
[edit]The version marketed by Brio in Denmark differs in a few respect to what is described in the article.
Re political correctness: The only human depicted in the board has brown skin and perhaps arab features, rahter than stereotypical negro features.
Re pices: The horseshoes are replaced by visa.
Re rules:
- The notes are worth 1000, 5000 and 10000 - but below, I'll put a parenthesis around the extra zero.
- The initial sum given each player is 500(0), not 300.
- The "blind passenger" rule: If robbed on an island, after sitting over one round one can take the boat for free. The move-max-1-or-2-rule is not mentioned.
- When arriving at a city, one can turn over the piece - either by paying 100(0) or by throwing a 4, 5 or 6 - already in the same turn where one arrives at the city.
I wonder if these differences are specific for the Danish version?--Noe (talk) 14:12, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- As far as I remember this game from my childhood in Denmark in the late 1980s, it did have horseshoes (not visa), but I don't recall the illustrations or sums involved, though. Anyway, the changes mentioned may be of recent origins. We had had the game for as long as I can remember, so it may have been bought for my sister in the 1970s.

- Just checked out the images on boardgamegeek and certainly recognised one of the images of people with 'stereotypical negro features' mentioned above from the game from my childhood. So apparently the game has been 'sanitised' later on. I also recognised the box cover as well as the Swedish/Finnish edition of the board in the version I knew.

Original Finnish article
[edit]The second version of the original Finnish article from 14 March 2004 read:
- Afrikan tähti on lautapeli.
- "Pelata Afrikan tähteä" on Turun ja Porin alueella silloin tällöin kuultu kiertoilmaus seksille.
Translation:
- Afrikan tähti is a board game.
- "To play Afrikan tähti" is an euphemism for sexual intercourse sometimes heard in the Turku and Pori area.
The edit summary read: Tämän voisi varmaan muotoilla paremmin, mutta ainakin nämä ovat faktoja., translation "This could perhaps be formatted better, but at least these are facts." JIP | Talk 21:57, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
