i hope albertson's doesn't sell out. their philanthropy efforts in boise really help Boise, and Idaho alltogether. User:mattkociol
at this point in time a Kroger bid for Albertsons is just a rumor that has not been confirmed or denied by either company. Hypernick1980 06:39, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
From company to brand
I just reworked the article to give more detail and prominence to the pending acquisition. Once the sale is complete, the article will need to be redone to reflect its transition from company to brand. Unless someone else finds or creates an infobox for brands, it looks like the infobox will need to be replaced in favor of a simple image of the brand's logo. 66.167.252.117 09:58, 5 March 2006 (UTC).
Slow edit war
There appears to be a slow edit war on this article over various details. I don't like seeing insertions of apparently factual data removed with a simple edit summary of "rv" and without discussion on the talk page. Can we please have some discussion of this situation instead of these continual reversions? Thank you, Kelly Martin (talk) 05:53, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Hopefully I have not violated the rules by correcting an Albertsons item regarding "check out while you go" - under Technology. My apologies if I have. Albertsons installed a series of "check out while you go" lines in their San Francisco store at Petrini Plaza about two years ago. To this day, it is a gamble whether check out is actually faster if you do the work yourself, or simply go through regular check out lines. The "check out while you go" lines have to be watched by employee checkers to help customers with problems. Problems range from improper bar codes, unreadable bar codes, bar codes that do not reflect price specials, and the many difficulties customers have using a computer system with which they are not familiar. Problems can bring the line to a dead halt. No doubt this enables Albertsons to reduce the number of employees, but it does not increase customer satisfaction with the store.
Stores no longer owned by Albertsons
To clear this up County Line Liquor, Grocery Warehouse, Lazy Acres, Max Foods are NO LONGER OWNED by Albertson and Save-A-Lot is owned by SUPERVALU not ALBERTSONS --Caldorwards4 00:52, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Correction to above of stores owned and operated by Albertsons
It appears that Wikipedia user Caldorwards4 is manipulating the facts of Albertsons familiy of companies by deleting factual edits. Further, by deleting these factual edits, user Caldorwards4 distorts factual and relevant information in an attempt to manipulate the share price of Albertsons (ABS) and Supervalu (SVU) stock by removing factual and current information about the company. Further, the Securities and Exchange Commisssion (SEC) becomes involved when individuals tamper and remove correct information about a publicly-traded company and/or companies for personal gain. It appears Caldorwards4 actions by removing factual information about Albertsons is an attempt to mislead the Wikipedia users by removing correct information about the company in order to manipulate the share price. Since Wikipedia is public, buyers of Albertsons stock may be less inclined or even stop from purchasing any shares in the company beacuse of the false information.
User Caldorwards4 also falsely posts that Lucky is a current operating division of Albertsons. All Lucky locations were converted to Albertsons in November 1999 and the Lucky name was retired. In April 2006, Albertsons elected to bring back the use of the Lucky name by way of newspaper advertisements that appeared throughout the Northern California Division and at the www.albertsons.com home page. However, Albertsons does not operate ANY locations that use the name Lucky.
Other false information removed by user Caldorwards4 concerns current operating companies owned and operated by Albertsons.
Jewel Food Stores and Jewel Express fuel centers. Jewel has operated free-standing Jewel Food Stores for several decades and they continue to operate today under the "Jewel" name and not as "Jewel-Osco". Jewel Express are fuel centers that reside in the out lot of a Jewel-Osco location.
Lazy Acres was recently acquired by Albertsons and continues to operate under the Lazy Acres banner.
County Line Liquor are free-standing liquor stores adjacent to Albertsons. These stores have operated for many years and continue in business today, owned and operated by Albertsons.
Grocery Warehouse and Max Foods are also owned and operated by Albertsons and each of those named stores continues in operation.
Save-A-Lot, prior to Albertsons acquisition of Shaw's and Star Market from J Sainsbury plc, are operated by Shaw's. Shaw's was (and continues to be) a current franchise operator of Save-A-Lot stores in the northeast. The Save-A-Lot stores were acquired by Albertsons upon the acquisition of Shaw's and Star Market. To be clear, this does not imply that all Save-A-Lot stores are owned by Albertsons, only those Save-A-Lot locations franchised by Shaw's from Supervalu.
Okay I get it --Caldorwards4 22:09, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
Lucky was revived by SuperValu and operates several locations in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas areas. tknab
A search of the Albertsons finder indicates that there several Lucky branded locations in Las Vegas. tknab
Company name
While the company's logo does not use an apostrophe (e.g., Albertsons), note that the company's actual name does include it (e.g., Albertson's). Press releases, finacial documents, etc. show an apostrophe. Clipper471 03:07, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Clipper47 is correct. In official documents (SEC filings, etc.) it is spelled with the apostrophe. see: http://sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/3333/000095012306006636/l20440ae8vk.htm It looks like they do Albertson's, Inc. / Albertsons. Of course, there is a strong possibility that within a couple weeks, it is not going to matter... There will no longer be an Albertson's, Inc., just Albertsons as a service/trade mark. VikÞor Talk 04:04, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
It does seem that the holding company uses the apostrophe, while the trademark does not... [1] Clipper471 14:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- When using "Inc." the name should have an apostrophe. Caldorwards recently added "Inc." to the companyname in the infobox, thus, an apostrophe now needs to be added to "Albertsons" Clipper471 02:51, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
I notice their generic store products also use "Albertson's" with the apostrophe. Another company, Macy's, uses an asterisk in place of the apostrophe for marketing purposes as well. Most media use the apostrophe in their reports as well. A Google News search turned up 1010 hits of Albertson's, while there are 829 hits of Albertsons. I think instances of Albertsons in this article should be edited with an apostrophe, and the page be moved to Albertson's, as was attempted in November 2005. References to Albertson's in the article were edited in April 2004. Clipper471 00:37, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
Lock Down
will we be told why this article was put under Office Lockdown? VikÞor Talk 07:10, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- why is this article on lock-down, is it possible to know why Hypernick1980 07:19, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- I was wondering that myself. If it's because of the single editor described above, why can't they just ban the guy and let the rest of us get on with our lives? Unless Albertsons is threatening to sue us to death or something... --tjstrf 09:30, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Albertsons Groups
Now that the split has been finalized, need to specify which Albertsons group. Especially when talking about closings. Albertsons LLC (Cerberus group) IS different than Albertsons (owned by Supervalu)! VikÞor Talk 11:06, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Albertsons LLC?
Is Albertsons LLC a separate company? I'm confused by the two articles. --Galaxiaad 05:33, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes they are two separate companies Albertsons, Inc. is owned by supervalu Inc. and Albertsons LLC is owned by Cerberus Group.--Micheal21 19:03, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Opposition about the current Disambig at Albertsons
Albertsons is now a disambig for Albertsons LLC and this article, a move which I don't think is proper.
Remember, New Albertsons is merely a division of Supervalu that runs the Albertsons-branded supermarkets they owned; it is not a direct descendant of former Albertsons as an independent company. However, viewers to Albertsons were puzzled as to where they should find information for the pre-2006 Albertsons (which include Jewel-Osco, Sav-On etc.).
Hence, I propose Albertsons to include pre-2006 Albertsons Inc., and this article only refers to the post-2006, Supervalu-owned portion of Albertsons-branded stores. --Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 16:10, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
How about a disambig page for Albertsons that directs to three articles, one article about Albertsons LLC, another about the Supervalu owned Albertsons (I also would suggest giving it a title of "Albertsons (Supervalu Division)" or something along those lines so that it is more understood what Albertsons that article refers to), and finally a new article titled "Albertsons (1939-2006)". Hypernick1980 06:52, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- My idea is rename this to Albertsons Inc. and split Post-2006 Supervalu-owned Albertsons to New Albertsons. Such a move is to perserve edit history integrity since much of this article was written for the pre-2006 Albertsons. --Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 07:35, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
New Albertsons vs. New Albertsons, Inc.
There has been dispute about using the "Inc." within the name "New Albertsons". The incorporated should be included as not only is it the officil name of the operating company within SUPERVALU, but "New Albertsons" could also refer to Albertsons LLC as they were both newly created from the split of Albertsons. MortalConviction 01:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
The current State of affairs meant: WP:RM
I have seen no discussion of this move. For this reason, I have to ask for a RM. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samuel Curtis (talk • contribs) 01:13, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Lucky
This article's name needs to be changed to Lucky. Around July or August 2007, all Albertsons had their names changed to Lucky. Sokuri (talk) 22:18, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- This may be true in your local area, but it's certainly not true at a national level. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 22:25, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
No, I heard all Albertsons were changed to Lucky. Sokuri (talk) 22:27, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- You heard wrong. There's one down the street from me. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 22:29, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Are you in the US? Sokuri (talk) 22:35, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- I am. I live in the Seattle area and visited southern California for Christmas. Not a single Lucky has replaced a single Albertsons to my perception. There are no Lucky stores anymore. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 15:34, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Name of Article?
I would suggest this article be called "Albertsons (SuperValu)" or something similar. "New Albertsons" is just a legal name used in official documents, and is hardly ever used other than on legal paperwork. --bud08, 2010 Octboer 13. —Preceding undated comment added 04:06, 14 October 2010 (UTC).
I prefer the use of "New Albertsons", due to the fact that is the legal name, and lets say the company got a different owner, its name would have to change again. I recommend that its name is reverted back to "New Albertsons" I have seen "New Albertsons" on Albertsons doors. Viller the Great (talk) 06:47, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
New Albertsons Inc. and Albertsons LLC
To make sure users know the differenace between the two Albertson's compaines, I'm trying to set up a page that lists both. That way no one is confused and the pages are set up more easier. --MortalConviction, 2007 June 14.
Are there two different Stores, some called New Albertsons? Or is New Albertsons Inc. just the name of the holding company? The way it is presented in the very beginning makes this confusing. --Asperous (talk) 00:46, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
External history link no longer there
The link to the scripophily website, apparently a history of Albertsons, is gone. The link resolves to the main page of the site.
I'm unsure of proper procedure here; the page seems irrecoverable. Do we just remove the link? MichaelCaricofe (talk) 02:27, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Albertsons is one company again
Albertsons no longer is two companies. Cerberus bought the remaining stores owned by SuperValu. Now they form one company, under Albertsons LLC. So the two Albertsons articles should not be separate. They should be merged, under the name, Albertsons. Viller the Great (talk) 02:23, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Merge NAI into SuperValu, or split?
The company history is fairly easy to follow up until 2006 and 2013 and beyond, but in between is an absolute mess. It's trying to cover two distinct companies, and it becomes problematic. Is it possible to move the New Albertsons history (including introduction of Essential Everyday, etc. and selling Bristol Farms) to SuperValu? TheListUpdater (talk) 19:29, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
- Update: I'm in the process of creating a new article that covers the history of the company through the LLC path, reducing confusion, unless I should just create a second section covering the SuperValu part of the company. As it stands, it's too confusing.TheListUpdater (talk) 18:49, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Headquarters Location
I have changed the headquarters location back to Eden Priairie, Minn. as this is where all senior executives of what was Albertsons are now based. The highest ranking exceutive who is responsible for the Supervalu Support Campus in Boise is Duncan Mac Naughton, Executive Vice-President of Merchandising & Marketing. Mac Naughton is actually based in Eden Prairie, Minn., even though for now he is working from the Support Campus in Boise.

'Associates' or 'Employees'?
1st para uses associates euphemism Wal-Mart-speak instead of employees, is there a need for such euphemistic corporate-speak in the opening paragraph description?
Fortune Ranking
I'm seeing an apparent contradiction between this article and the Fortune 500 article. I suspect what's going on here is that some information is more up-to-date than other information. (Some of the discussion here seems to indicate there have been significant changes.) Nonetheless, there is no direct clarification in the article, and there probably should be, because it's confusing. Here is what I see:
- Albertson's, according to this article, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Supervalu.
- Albertson's has a Fortune 500 ranking of 47.
- Supervalu has a Fortune 500 ranking of 113.
If those are all true at the same time, something very weird is going on. Normally a company can't have a smaller gross revenue than its wholly owned subsidiary. Maybe this will resolve itself when the 2007 Fortune rankings come out, but meanwhile it's very confusing, and perhaps something should be done meanwhile to clarify what is going on, e.g., if the link in the Fortune 500 article was meant to point to an article on the larger pre-January-2006 company, perhaps some note should be made in that article to the effect that the company in question no longer exists as such. As it stands, the implication is that the Albertson's that is the subject of this article is a Fortune 50 corp and much larger than Supervalu, but that makes no sense if it's a subsidiary of Supervalu. --Jonadab, 2006 Dec 15.
Brands
Since New Albertsons, Inc. no longer directly operates the stores under the Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, Star Markets, or Acme Markets banners (they have been divided among Supervalu's different operating divisions) I think it would be somewhat wrong to claim these brands are still owned/operated by Albertsons. However the page should still clearly state that those chains up to the acquisition was owned by the former Albertsons, Inc. --MortalConviction, 2007 June 16.
Controversies Section Needs An Overhaul
I think the controversies section needs an overhaul because a couple of links doesn't constitute as information. 73.97.40.6 (talk) 22:45, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Cerberus does not own all of Albertsons
Some of Albertsons is publicly traded on the NYSE so Cerberus does not own all of Albertsons — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.222.180.90 (talk) 18:01, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
