Anaphora

[edit]
John 7:38 refers to the heart of Jesus: "From His Heart will flow rivers of living water."

Are there any translations which understand "his" in that sentence to refer to Jesus? From a cursory look it seems to more obviously refer to "whoever believes in me" in the previous clause. Marnanel (talk) 07:23, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will look it up later. I am sure there are sources to determine that. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 07:27, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"[38] Living water: not an exact quotation from any Old Testament passage; in the gospel context the gift of the Spirit is meant; cf ⇒ John 3:5. From within him: either Jesus or the believer; if Jesus, it continues the Jesus-Moses motif (water from the rock, ⇒ Exodus 17:6; ⇒ Numbers 20:11) as well as Jesus as the new temple (cf ⇒ Ezekiel 47:1). Grammatically, it goes better with the believer." NAB John 7:38, n.14. Mannanan51 (talk) 22:58, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative names?

[edit]

Is this the same as the "Twin Hearts of Jesus and Mary" or "Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary"? If so, maybe these terms should serve as redirects? Sanglahi86 (talk) 12:37, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
