Tyrant

[edit]

Amastris is listed under ancient greek tyrants, but I cannot find any reference to tyrannical actions by her.

Untitled

[edit]

According to Memnon, Amastris had two sons and one daughter by Dionysius, the daughter was named Amastris too. The English translation of Memnon is not clear to which Amastris (mother or daughter) Lysimachus was married. See here: http://www.attalus.org/translate/memnon1.html . She is "...of Amastris". Amastris isn't her name. It's the name of the place that she is from. 96.241.228.73 (talk) 14:00, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any idea what her name was? Any sources? Asarelah (talk) 16:08, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Town

[edit]

Hi,

Amastris was also a town on the North coast of Asia Minor (Turkey), today Amasra. Is it just me or doesn't Wikipedia say anything about this town? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D08:6883:1900:1D79:E24:237A:BE5B (talk) 17:25, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's mentioned in paragraph 4 of the article and there is an article at Amasra. I've added a hat note. Furius (talk) 11:40, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
