Notability / Notoriety
[edit]Amir Bramly is to date the largest alleged Ponzi scheme in Israel - more than 100 million USD. He has received alot of media coverage and has impacted many-many investors - including American-Israelis and also some funds from the USA via Kela Fund USA (though most of the activity was local Israeli) [1].Icewhiz (talk) 06:13, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Criminal proceedings - if fit here
[edit]Regarding the charges - he him self hasn't been convicted criminally - the case is ongoing. However, in civil court the companies were placed in final liquidation and -his own personal assets- are also under liquidation. In addition, a worker in his fund was recently convicted and sentenced in the same criminal case as she placed a guilty plea-bargain plea (and is acting as a prosecution witness) ([2]). In this regard this case is much-much farther along than where Madoff was in January 2009 for instance - [3]. The fund / rubicon company / and Bramli himself - were all found in civil court to have their assets "tangled". Bramli was the public face of the companies. In terms of significance of the article - the main encyclopedic significance is the alleged Ponzi scheme. His activities as business man are marginal. I won't get into an editing war over this - will bow to your better judgement - my track record in the English Wkipedia is very brief - if this should wait for an absolutely final criminal conviction (civil case status + advanced criminal proceedings not enough) - will wait until this is handed down. - Please see my comment at the AfD discussion [4]. Jbh Talk 12:06, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- It may be possible to discuss the civil material but it would be necessary to avoid implications of criminal activity. Even then it is likely that WP:BLP1E would be an issue. Jbh Talk 12:10, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- He'd pass WP:BLP1E - he was very-very high profile in the Israeli press prior to his fall. To the point where he had an article a week (full/half page) in the 4 financial newspapers, and the occasional TV-spot as well - during 2011-2015. I personally wouldn't have written this up without the ponzi allegation - but he isn't a single event. For instance - [5] a news search on him for 2009-2014 (prior to all fraud/liqudity issues) has 313 news items - the whole operation was built on a very high-profile PR machine and links to local celebrities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Icewhiz (talk • contribs) 13:17, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- I seem to keep seeing the AfD first and answering there . Anyway, please see [6]. Jbh Talk 13:56, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Call me an optimist - but I write here on the assumption the article will survive Afd - and if not, will be revisited in a few months.
