Andreas Öberg - spam?[edit]

This smells like spam to me:

Andreas Öberg: Andreas Guitar Universe

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_%C3%96berg#Andreas_Guitar_Universe

Andreas Guitar Universe

On July 1 2009, Andreas Öberg launched his online teaching site, the Andreas Guitar Universe. The concept is to inspire students from all over the world, at all levels of proficiency, to enroll. Using video technique and with more than 120 guitar lessons available on the website to study, each student will be able to upload their practice video for Andreas to review. Paired with Öberg's feedback such as insights, demonstrations and suggestions, students also can learn from each other.

And the "awards" seem to more spam/clutter.

Andreas Öberg: Awards

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_%C3%96berg#Awards

Winner of the Audience Prize of Gibson International Guitar Competition in Montreux, Switzerland (2006)

Gevalia Award (2004)

Hagström Guitar Award (2003)

Swedish Armstrong Society Award (2003)

Fasching Award (2002)

Winner of National Jazz Competition (2002)

In case you're wondering - he's not very good.

That entire article is spam, and needs to be rewritten from scratch. Brad 17:55, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the text above appears to have promotion as its main objective. Several aspects of the article seem promotional and need work.--KbobTalk 17:41, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think I have rectified most of the problems cited above by providing sources and removing non-sourced promo text and External Links.--KbobTalk 23:32, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the RfC tag.--KeithbobTalk 15:17, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Quotes[edit]

Per WP:QUOTE and WP:LEAD these quotes have been removed. If the can be weaved into the text in some relevant way they can be put back in the article. However they are not appropriate for block quotes nor are they appropriate at the top of the page or in the lead.

  • "Listen to Andreas Oberg, that will learn you!"
    Les Paul

  • "At 28, Andreas Öberg has mastered many styles, always enhanced with youthful, rock-driven vigor."

Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times

WP: Notability[edit]

Yes, he meets this criteria. Jazz guitar is a niche-knowledge area, compounded further by the fact that he's Swedish and not from the US or Britain, but ask any Jazz guitarist who he is, they'll know. He has been adequately covered in terms of reliable sources. I think there may be some promotional interests who are involved in the article and those need to be corrected, but objectively, he meets notability. Head over to the Jazz project and find the guitar editors- ask them, they'll all agree. LoverOfArt (talk) 14:48, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One of Europe's best and most intimidating guitarists with some of the most frightening chops in contemporary jazz guitar, yes you're right, of course we've heard of him!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:06, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
