Death
[edit]Antonio Puerta collapsed after 35 minutes of gameplay, not 28, as you can read in the news attached to the article. Please correct this mistake.meh —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.232.82.50 (talk) 00:55, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
Remove the word "only" from this description - it introduces some slight judgement and is confusing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.211.139.91 (talk) 18:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

of not from?
[edit]first para, it says 'A sufferer from arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy'. should it not be 'A sufferer of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy'?
yes, suffered from, and you suffer from something, but surely you are a sufferer of something, no? 77.101.18.129 19:02, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I can't believe the guy has just passed away and already people are quibbling over the grammar in this article.....some people are UNBELIEVABLE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.8.9.240 (talk) 19:17, August 28, 2007 (UTC)
- Some people actually want to improve Wikipedia. Should we ignore errors just because someone died? ZdS| talk 19:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes I agree, but at least wait a few days out of respect, it just seems obscene to be discussing grammar on a guy's article who passed away the same day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.8.9.240 (talk) 08:11, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia doesn't get emotional.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 22:17, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- And there is no way in which improving grammatical errors on a Wikipedia article is disrespectful to the guy. It's anything but disrespectful.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 22:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Youth Club
[edit]Puerta's youth club is listed as "Sevilla B" with the B in italics. Is there any reason for the italics? Beyond that, while the team used to be called Sevilla FC B, now it's Sevilla Atlético, so should it be listed as such? I don't know when it became known as Atlético instead of B, but now that it's known as that, should the link be changed or at least the italics removed? (I have no idea if there's a Sevilla B thing out there that was decided, maybe some Sevillistas know) Isaiah 21:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- a) The team might have had the name of "Sevilla B" when he was a youth player. If so, there's no need for italics.
b) Or the team might have had its name changed to Sevilla Atlético. In which case B denotes it's not the main team, but as it's not part of the official name, it doens't belong there, hence the italics. But the correct (ie, official) name should be used instead.
So IMHO there's no need for italics. ZdS| talk 23:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Forgive me if I don't get this right, this is my first comment on Wikipedia. I thought I could shed some light as a Sevilla supporter . . . Two things. The reserve team for Sevilla FC used to be called Sevilla B. Sevilla B officially became Sevilla Atletico last season (2006/2007). When Puerta played for the reserve team, it was Sevilla B. Also, there is a difference between youth teams and reserve teams. Youth teams are amateur, while both the first team and the reserve team are professional. Second, Puerta has played outside defender (Wing Back) almost exclusively for the past two seasons for the first team, not midfield.NO8DO 00:11, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- You have a good point, NO8DO, about the reserve teams. I think it should be left as Sevilla B because that's what it was called when he was there, but I don't know how Wikipedia generally handles these name changes. I took the italics out, regardless, so that's one thing in the bag. As it's a "reserve team," does that mean all the players are professionals and no longer part of the youth system? I was under the impression that Barcelona B, for example, is part of FC Barcelona's youth system. If that is not true, then listing Barca B as a youth club would be misleading. Isaiah 17:27, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
NO8DO is wrong, Puerta did not play exclusively as a left wing back for the past two seasons before he passed because David Castedo was the first choice left back, When he wasn't available Adriano Correia or José Crespo played left back, so therefore Puerta filled in for Adriano at left wing. Trust me, I know, I am a season ticket holder at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and have been for 7 years. (DipSetGeezer (talk) 11:10, 27 August 2008 (UTC))
Category:Footballers that died on the pitch
[edit]Should Puerta be in this category? He died in hospital. Sir-Nobby 19:39, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- He walked out of the pitch after the collapse, not even stretchered out, so he shall not be in this category. If there is any "Football related death" category, then he will be in. --Kyaw 2003 20:08, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Absurd, there's almost no player having really died on the pitch, they all died later in hospital. That makes me laugh... what else is the category for??? --82.57.16.86 22:08, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Fehér and Foe also died after they were taken off the pitch, but are listed in the category. I think the category should be renamed to something less strict. (Footballers that collapsed on the pitch and died, or something allowing that the actual death came later) Gligeti 18:27, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Not Jewish
[edit]There are no reliable or local sources to avouch for Antonio Puerta being Jewish. The source used was The Sun, which is an awful source that should not be used for anything, and doesn't even say Jew or Judaism in it. So you're misrepresenting a source which is already unreliable. For all we know, Puerta could have been a fan of S.C. Freamunde. There are no Spanish-language sources for "Antonio Puerta judio", and while there is a reliable piece from El Mundo about Ramos' tattoos but it does not specify which is for Puerta; there's a video but it's not loading for me [1].
Put simply, for someone whose death and funeral rites were a public spectacle, there should be ample evidence of his alleged religion, and it all just points to him being at least nominally Catholic like most Spaniards. 2A00:23C5:E1AB:4500:2505:95B6:C231:3D16 (talk) 20:37, 26 December 2019 (UTC)
