Non-controversial move - over redirect[edit]

@Gadfium Thanks for the improvements you have made to this article. Can I ask for your assistance with a small task that I understand requires admin rights. The page name should be Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve - that is its official name, and is used in sources. However, I can't move it to this name, because there is an existing redirect for this name that goes to the page Dark-sky preserve. Now that there is a new article about the reserve, the redirect is no longer required. Can you please assist me with resolving this - I presume you can move over the redirect ?? Many thanks. New category for dark sky places in New Zealand[edit]

@Grutness Could I have your opinion please on the merits of a new category for Dark Sky Places in New Zealand. This proposed category would include the two recently published articles Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve and Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, but would also allow for the inclusion of "lower-tier" dark sky places (see the various types here: Dark-sky preserve). Potentially, this new category could also be used for an article about a locality (eg Kaikoura) that has a dark-sky policy/programme in place and is working towards accreditation to one of the standard types. Possible "nesting" could be to en:Category:Tourist attractions in New Zealand perhaps, as well as en:Category:Astronomy in New Zealand. However, a dark sky place / reserve is also a protected area of sorts. In benchmark articles I noted that the article used the protected area infobox template. Should the proposed category be nested beneath en:Category:Protected areas of New Zealand Your thoughts ? Marshelec (talk) 04:18, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mmmm. There are other similar categories with limited numbers, all under the titles "Dark-sky preserves in...", which it would be best to keep to as Category:Dark-sky preserves in New Zealand. As for parent categories, Category:Dark-sky preserves, Category:Astronomy in New Zealand, and Category:Protected areas of New Zealand would make sense, though the idea of adding the tourist attractions one is good. Grutness...wha? 05:44, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Grutness Thanks. I have taken your suggestions and created and populated the new category. I have also found that there are two accredited Dark Sky Parks in NZ that warrant articles, so I have more work to do :) Marshelec (talk) 06:56, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
