Article needs to be improved

[edit]

(I happened upon this article after a spirited back-and-forth with User:Abcmaxx and looking up his football contributions. The following is not "hounding"; it's just friendly advice. If no one else comes forward, I'll make the improvements.)

(1) The history of the club is said to be "complex due to the number of mergers and name changes in its history". But we are here to provide the context of the complexity; and if we refer to it, we are also supposed to untangle it. The article provides three links to historical sources but no content from them. Also, mergers and name changes are routinely encountered in historical clubs. On its own, this fact does not constitute complexity.

(2) Inline sources are lacking throughout, e.g. for said history. Additionally, all sources appear to be in Greek, except for one that appears to be in Polish. Some English-language references would be helpful in order, if anything, to establish notability.

(3) The language needs to be corrected for grammar and syntax. Example: "[The club] started his career".

(4) The translation is often very poor, too. Example: The title of one section is "Eccellence Naples". Apparently this is a typo and was meant to read "Excellence Naples". However, "Naples" does not exist in Greece; there are only variants of Neapolis, the origin of the many eponymous cities in the Med basin, such as Napoli. Also, the name itself of the Neapoli, Athens club would not be "Excellence" in English but something like "Supremacy", since that club's name in Greek is Yperohi (Υπεροχή: supremacy). In any case, why not leave the name without a translation? You quite rightly did this for the article itself: "Asteras" means "Star" in Greek. "Yperohi Neapoli" looks quite right.

Take care, all. -The Gnome (talk) 08:43, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
