Soviet Air Force?

[edit]

The infobox says Soviet Air Force was involved, but it's not mentioned at all in the article. Can somebody clarify that ?--AW 18:12, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The MiG opposition were nearly all Soviet--97th and 190th Fighter Divisions of the VVS. I will insert a modifier at appropriate spots. However they are listed in the info box as potential opponents. A big response was expected but did not materialize, which is why there is no mention of them in the article. The genesis of this article was one I wrote about the novel The Hunters, which uses this action as the setting for its climax. I noted other references to the Sui-ho Dam, mostly among articles on carriers and their air groups, and decided to research the article deeper, and came up with the rest. It was not THE biggest air operation of the Korean War, but was among the leaders in that category, but was without doubt the most successful and far-reaching.--Buckboard 06:25, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A little research turned up the Soviet order of battle on two different sites--one created in the United States by a military researcher and the other by researchers promoting the Soviet Air Force side of the story, so I think the AOB is trustworthy. I did not document commanders because the MiGs did not engage but just showed the potential opposition.--Buckboard 10:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. --AW 15:37, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
