Cancelled Games
[edit]These pages are specifically for results. I suggest that it is completely un-necessary to include friendly games that were arranged and then cancelled, hence there being no result. There is no historical need to retain this on a results page. I don't see any issues with it being retained on 2019–20 in Australian soccer as that is more of an events summary page but the information doesn't belong here. I can't see any other results page where this is recorded. Thoughts? Clifton9 (talk) 23:05, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- Should we then delete it from Australia women's national soccer team results (2010–19) as well? WDM10 (talk) 23:22, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- Yep. Clifton9 (talk) 23:35, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- Done. WDM10 (talk) 23:37, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- Firstly, please don't go ahead and do stuff under a "consensus" of 2 people. If you bring it to the talk page, wait until there is thorough discussion. Secondly, regarding the issue, a cancellation of a match is a result too, even if not a score, and therefore should be recorded, as previous cancellations have been recorded. Would you suggest to just delete the section of the final of the 2020 Algarve Cup instead of marking it as cancelled? --SuperJew (talk) 23:51, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- The reasons for cancellation are also notable, one (2015) is a major strike in support of women's soccer, while the other (2020) is a global pandemic. --SuperJew (talk) 23:54, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry I got a bit ahead of myself. After reconsidering, I'm of the belief that they should be there however other users don't seem to be. Should we do a poll? WDM10 (talk) 23:59, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- My opinions on this issue are:
- After deleting my edit (where you restored the previous removal of a cancelled game), and then effectively reverting your own revert by then removing 2 cancelled games, you are definitely getting a bit ahead of yourself and inconsistent.
- Polls should not be taken, as that is not how wikipedia operates (WP:NOTDEM). I agree with @SuperJew: that the process was prematurely fast.
- Due to minimal amount of likely traffic to this Talk Page, I suggest that the issue is far better discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Australia task force. Matilda Maniac (talk) 01:49, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry how I've mishandled this as I still am getting used to this kind of thing. I'll put a notice on the taskforce's talk page. WDM10 (talk) 01:57, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- Also wouldn't a poll be similar to this ([1]) or does that just come after a lot of discussion. WDM10 (talk) 02:06, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

- If games don't happen, for any reason at all, we have no results and they do not belong here. Bloody obvious really. HiLo48 (talk) 02:46, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- @HiLo48: As I said above, cancellation of a game is also a result, albeit one without a scoreline. --SuperJew (talk) 08:44, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- Got a source for that? HiLo48 (talk) 08:55, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- That cancellation of a game is also a result? The meaning of the word "result". Let me reword it for you, how did the USA vs Australia friendly end? It ended in cancellation of the match due to the coronavirus pandemic. --SuperJew (talk) 09:48, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- No. It didn't start, so it never happened. No result. HiLo48 (talk) 10:16, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
