POV/Neutrality of Article[edit]

A lot of this article has been copied word- to wrod from the BMTC's website, and hence seems to be promoting itself to one of the world's best systems when infact it is one of the worst. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 16:39, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

iT is MOST definitely NOT the ONLY profit making body, BEST also exists you know. The public loved the new look of the buses? BMTC was the first in the country to introduce intra-city Volvos. They were introduced in January 2006. Check out these links : [1], [2], [3]. Besides, words like 'worst' would constitute POV, and cannot be used in an article. BEST-Mumbai had a history of offsetting losses from it's bus operations with profits from electricity distribution. However, even electricity distribution is running up huge losses in recent years. Check this link [4]. Hence, BMTC is the only city public transport corporation that generates profits.

Starting over[edit]

I removed the copyright violation, which was almost all of the article, and I'm declining the deletion for db-copyvio. I'm glad to see that we're getting some back-and-forth discussion on the talk page. There's hope for a neutral article, eventually, about this clearly notable public transportation system. You guys may want to start restoring information to the article ... you can see the copyrighted material by clicking on "history" and looking at yesterday's version ... but remember, don't copy sentences, write whatever you think is important in your own words. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 15:03, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DOn't bother[edit]

When recreating the article, don't bother mentioning pass buses or bus shelters. Most bus shelters are owned by the BDA, very few grey coloured ones are owned by BMTC. As for pass buses, they now act as normal buses but with one door and the driver selling tickets. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 14:17, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Volvo[edit]

Some people think VOlvos are the only airconditioned buses in the world and thus they wrongly believe that MTC was the first to intorduce AC buses, though BEST had it 8 yrs proir to tht. Merging[edit]

The Big-10 buses were first written on that page only but the same was removed considering that routes must not be mentioned. That is why a seperate page was started. If it is felt that merging will not go against Wikipedia rules kindly do the same. Name change[edit]

Name of the organisation changed from "Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation" to "Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation".
