- I have added a freely licensed one taken during a recording of You'll Have Had Your Tea. Sorry it has taken so long! mattbr 20:30, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
ISHAC recording 2009 (badly worded IMO)
[edit]Of course the status of ISIHAC is still a bit up in the air right now.
Nevertheless I think it odd to say "Recording of the 51st series will start in early 2009 after the death of Humphrey Lyttleton". For those not familiar with the show, this could be read to mean that we have to wait for Humph to die before recording can commence!
I am not sure exactly how to word it, but perhaps to split into two or more separate sentences? Humph obviously has his own article, which rightly is linked to, and Barry's biog should not become Humph's biog.but somehow this needs rephrasing.
Suggestion
"Recording of the 51st series will commence in early 2009. Since the death of HL some thought Barry would resume the chairmanship" (citation needed but I can try find it, it was said on R4) but all the regular pannelists, including Barry, currently (as of late 2008) have stated publically they would seem to prefer a "guest chairman", a style now familiar with British audiences, first set on Angus Deayton's departure from "Have I got News For You".
That, I am sure, is not what would end up in final. Just throwing out as a basis to work on.

Jewish???
[edit]Was he Jewish — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:F86A:AA00:38B5:9E67:1B97:B876 (talk) 18:26, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- I always assumed he was Jewish. Maybe just honorary Jewish. The HITC the tells us "The comedian was the son of Carl Cryer, a Jewish accountant." But it's not mentioned in any of his newspaper obituaries, so it may be an urban myth. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:52, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
Residence in Leeds
[edit]Barry once said on a TV interview that he was brought up in the Harehills district of Leeds jokingly pronouncing it in typical West Yorkshire twang as 'arehills cutting out the initial H in his pronunciation. I was brought up on the edge of Harehills in Gledhow. 2A02:C7D:468C:CC00:3076:4154:889D:D681 (talk) 22:38, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Too editorial to insert his last ever joke?
[edit]Would it be too sentimental/editorial if the death section features his last ever joke? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.2.151.53 (talk) 08:31, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
