"Up-tempo & dance-pop"

[edit]

Although Wikipedia itself states: "up-tempo is a fast, lively, or increased tempo or played or done in such a tempo. It is also used as an umbrella term for a quick-paced electronic music style", surely this song is misdescribed as "up-tempo" and "dance-pop", not least because the beat seems more medium tempo than fast. At the risk of digressing into POV it seems to me that this tune is better described as a haunting love song with a remarkable depth of quality of both music and lyrics.

The fact that it later morphed into an extended sampled disco tune more than ten minutes long perhaps suggests that the original version was not itself "dance pop". Arrivisto (talk) 18:52, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of info about William Orbit

[edit]

There is a user who claims that adding additional information about William Orbit, the co-writer and co-producer of the song, is inappropriate. I am not sure why this is inappropriate, as "Beautiful Stranger is one of his most prominent works. I simply added information that was properly cited about how Madonna had previously collaborated with Orbit for her 1998 album Ray of Light and that they would later collaborate again on her 2000 album Music and her 2012 album MDNA. If you could please read my edit and tell me your opinion, it would be most definitely appreciated. I refuse to be bullied by a Wikipedia user who is notorious for bullying other users -- just look at his Talk page. We are all here to work together to create a page that is informative and interesting for all people. This page is not going to be simply the way that makes one person, and only one person happy. HE DOES NOT OWN THIS PAGE. We should all be working together and compromising to include everyone's share of good quality info.

HERE IS THE EDIT THAT KEEPS GETTING DELETED:

Madonna had previously collaborated with Orbit on her critically acclaimed album Ray of Light (1998), and would later collaborate with him on her albums Music (2000) and MDNA (2012).

Ilovebeth's WP:UNDUE addition

[edit]

User Ilovebeth1994 has been continuously adding this content, which has nothing to do with the song in question. On reversion, the user is mocking the WP:BRD and does not seem to want to discuss, instead thinks that people are bullying. I have asked thrice to raise a talk page discussion, but alas, I'm raising it myself, so that Ilovebeth can explain. I have also asked SNUGGUMS opinion regarding this matter, maybe he can also add his thoughts. I have also asked to protect the article to save it from WP:EW. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 20:30, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Look up, sweetheart. I'm already on the talk page. You make no sense. How does adding additional information about her worth with this specific songwriter that she teamed up with to write this song have nothing to do with the song?

Ilovebeth1994 (talk) 20:31, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PS, this is the user's response on being warned for WP:EW, plus the above. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 20:32, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Because it is in no way related to this song and what the producer did with the artist later in career. It is suitable for the biography or maybe singles discogaphy but what you are adding is WP:UNDUE. Read it up and learn to indent talk page discussions properly. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 20:35, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agree; not connected to the song, though could be included in bio page. Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:20, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ilovebeth's comment makes me believe the user does not want to collaborate for a consensus, it makes it difficult to have a discussion in that case. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 09:25, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If non one has any other comment to make, I will be removing that content per WP:UNDUE importance. —IB [ Poke ] 10:35, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
