A few holes

[edit]
  • Created this article today. One thing I am not sure about is what happened to the original Beefsteak Charlie's location after Chessar closed/sold it in 1934. There are also references to a Beefsteak Charlie's in jazz circles through the 1950s and 1960s, and I'm not sure if there is any relation.--Neighborhoodpalmreader (talk) 22:14, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I added more sources today which seem to link the 50th st. location with the jazz hangout as one and the same (though different time periods). I am interested to know how Larry Ellman got hold of the Beefsteak Charlie name circa 1976. Clearly Beefsteak Charlie's took over a lot of Steak & Brews, which appears to be a chain started circa 1969 by Ellman (which might be expanded upon here, I think). Ellman seems to be a very interesting guy (is he still alive? unclear, last ref i have found so far is in 1997, to him reopening a Cattleman restaurant in White Plains), wonder if there is more out there about him.--Neighborhoodpalmreader (talk) 22:32, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
