Grammar etc

[edit]

Appallingly badly written: missing punctuation, confused syntax etc.

A digitally edited version of the photograph is available on Wikimedia Commons. I personally like this more than the orginal, but it is still not perfect. I propose taking a new photograph with a longer lense, if anyone travels there or lives close by. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 09:07, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

The first paragraph under "History" is either corrupted or very badly written. Either way it is almost incomprehensible. Macdonald-ross (talk) 22:06, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are the first to make that point across no doubt many readings. However I understand what you mean (ie. secure family tenants) is simply a translation of the non-jargon quite simple fact that most property was held as tenants (of someone else) in those days. This is basic old English land law and explains how oftentimes someone fell out of favour, or became too poor to pay the agreed rent, and the lease would be brought to a swift end.- Adam37 Talk 11:39, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
