Oh, go on![edit]

Hehe! In any event, if some ambitious soul would like to give this a bit of a read-through, I'd be much obliged. I don't speak any German myself, though if the material is horse-related I can generally read it a bit. There are plenty of missing umlauts, and while I hope my geographical references are accurate, they might need some attention. My next challenge is how to cover the Hanoverian (horse) without copy-pasting this article into it! Countercanter (talk) 15:46, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When in doubt, only add what you can footnote. (Says the voice of wisdom who is going through Arabian horse and trying to find page numbers not included in footnotes I put in there three years ago when GA standards were a LOT easier! =:-O) You are also going to HATE me for saying that umlauts matter! I don't speak much German, but I had some in college (now mostly forgotten), and there are times they matter A LOT! The person to ask is a German wikipedian who speaks pretty good English, User:Kersti Nebelsiek. She has a page on English wiki, but if I want to roust her out for a look at something, I drop her a line on her German wikipage too. Or, if your self-esteem can survive being put through the wringer, ask User:Wandalstouring. He's pretty blunt and tells it like it is, but he is also a native German speaker who edits a lot on English wiki. And at heart, a good egg. Montanabw(talk) 03:26, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But on the other hand, I did up at least 3/4 of both German riding pony and Carl Raswan by running the German wiki article through Google language translation. It got me started... Montanabw(talk) 03:21, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
On a different note, I tend to tread cautiously when listing a lot of named horses. When not a political minefield, it can become an endless, boring laundry list of interest only to the hardcore fans (like us, but still...). Note Appaloosa, where we focused mostly on foundation stock and not every famous horse in the breed. Sometimes when there is a lot of horses with their own articles (like in the Quarter horse and Thoroughbred worlds), it's best to create a category. (Right now there is Category:Famous Warmbloods, but always room for improvement). Montanabw(talk) 03:21, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
