Japanese names

I added the Japanese names for characters as well as attack names from the sandbox. Feel free to edit the Japanese names anytime. If anyone, including Deckiller, Darthgriz or Bluerfn has anything to say or something else to add or comment, please let me know. --Sjones23 01:05, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Order of main characters

Has there been decided a specific order for the main characters? As happened on the Characters of Final Fantasy VII page a while back, it looks like someone is trying to change the order. Available options include:

  1. Order listed in the game manual (Tidus, Yuna, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, Auron, Rikku)
  2. Order we find out names (Tidus, Auron, Rikku, Wakka, Lulu, Yuna, Kimahri)
  3. Order of joining the final party (Tidus, Wakka, Lulu, Yuna, Kimahri, Auron, Rikku)
  4. As well as any other suggestions anyone may have for the order, with reasoning behind them. (Suggest in a reply, and I'll add to the list)

Personally, I like the first or the third. The second one's a little dodgy. (My listing in the second one may also be off, feel free to correct, it's been a while since I started a new game.) The first one is from a reliable source for the list (What's reliable if not the manual that comes with the game?), and the third one is faithful to the game's progress in building the party. Any other opinions? Nique talk 15:57, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Another Magus Sisters command

When Mindy is low on HP, she sometimes gets another command not listed in the article: "Are you all right?" When used, she uses the Drain spell to heal herself. Maybe this command is worth mentioning. I don't have a screenshot. (I have the PAL version, and I can't confirm if this is present in the other versions.) --217.172.148.1 09:56, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Yu Yevon

Yu Yevon did not create Dream Zanarkand or Sin from "Millions of Pyreflies", the game states that he used the population of Zanarkand which had become Fayth. Fayth and Pyreflies are separate things, Wiki entry for Yu Yevon updated as appropriate. Also, the manner in which he summoned them is not mentioned in the game, so the reference to "gravity spells" used to create sin was removed.

Gravity spells came from ultimania Omega FFX iirc Renmiri 03:17, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

FFX sandbox

I've created a template in my User:Sjones23/Sandbox called User:Sjones23/Characters of Final Fantasy X. Sjones23 01:52, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Your recent sandbox move has removed Images from the article Characters of Final Fantasy X, replacing it with an Image generated by User:Gnomebot for uses of fair-use image in Userpages, which the said article is not. Help restore the images, and in doing that, try to use the infobox used for the main characters so that the voice cast and image can be organized well. This should create a visually appealing article. — Bluerです。 なにか? 09:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Shiva and Anima

Just two things:

1- Didn't anyone ever think that, since the Hindu god Shiva is a male, the Aeon has nothing in common with him, and maybe her name comes from SHIVER? It makes much more sense...

2- About Anima, it really comes from jungian psychology and it really means soul in Latin, but it doesn't mean pain in Italian: it actually means soul in Italian, too (I know that because I'm Italian). If you want to know it, "dolore" (with the final "e" pronunciated as in "winner") is the Italian word for pain.

Goodbye, Hades87 11:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

87.24.15.6 17:32, 18 June 2007 (UTC) I fixed the section about Anima; for the one about Shiva, since mine is just an opinion, I'm going to wait for other opinions...

Bye!

Organization

The best way to make the formatting is to eliminate the redundnacies. For example, there doesn't need to be two sections on Brother; we can explain his X-2 significance in his particular subsection. This also applies to in-game events; if something is elaborated in Wakka's section (naming of the child, etc), it doesn't need to be mentioned in Lulu's section. This will help to weed out a good 1/4 of the text. 01:50, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use cleanup

This article has been cleaned of fair use images, as they are not appropriate in list style articles, and not ever in anything nearing the quantity of them used here. That includes the tactic used here, creating "inline" links to many of the images, and then false links to fool the cleanup bots. Please don't do that again. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:42, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it's a little extreme to remove the images for the eight main characters, especially since all but Tidus and Yuna will be/already have been merged. — Deckiller 02:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
The links were done following the advice of GMAXWEL, author of the cleanup bots [1] Renmiri 05:56, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Braska

I thought the High Summoner too important not to be included so I wrote a small part on him. I realize it's quite small and probably incomplete, so feel free to make any necessary additions and/or improvements. :) --84.105.223.217 08:16, 25 September 2007 (UTC) --- Vhiran

Merge

Auron clearly has nothing to warrant a separate article. It's just a one-game character with two cameos and an inclusion in a plot-less obscure board game. Should be merged. Kariteh 16:43, 20 August 2007 (UTC) Nah. Auron stays. he plays a significant role in final fantasy. DeadWood 19:31, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. Besides, he was part of the Kingdom Hearts series, and his article is expanded to include details on such, so it makes if his article stays the way it is. ZeroGiga 19:31, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Don't merge. It is a mistake to merge all of the characters into one page. The page itself is WAY too long, difficult to navigate through, and heavily cramped. Merging all the character's separate articles would make the whole section too hectic to even read. It becomes really inconvenient for someone to have to swim through such a huge page just to find information about ONE character. Observation 13:51, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Disagree. Many of the other characters have their own pages, and as Observation stated, the page is already quite long. RainbowOfLight Talk 08:44, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I think the merge idea is bad sort it fucking out please you retards —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.16.82.174 (talk) 15:06, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I agree; the only reason this article is too long is because most of the characters don't have there own articles but rather the wikipedia community has tried unsuccessfully to condense all their info into one article. Not only does that make this article too long but it also means fans can't get as much information about their favorite characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 5465465 (talkcontribs) 00:39, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Merge Kimahri

Supporting character that appears in one game and has a cameo in another. Clearly unnotable. Should be merged into this main article. Kariteh (talk) 18:46, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I think I have to agree. I spent some time trying to recontextualize the Kimahri article within the real world but there's an incredible amount of narrative information in there that belongs in an FF wiki, not wikipedia. Evilkeen (talk) 20:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Images?

There is not a single image in this article. I suggest at least one thumbnail image for every major character. Though I am not sure how to capture high quality console game imagery.Emancipator (talk) 18:58, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm afraid that's not possible. The images that were originally there were removed due to fair use policy. If an image of the main characters, like this one, can be found, we can add it. The Prince (talk) 15:38, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Merger of Rikku here proposal

Here article is 90% plot repetition, and a paragraph or two of notable information, which would bulk up this article and eliminated a permanent start class article without losing any information. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:06, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Oppose. She was one of the main characters of two very popular games (FFX and FFX-2) and has also made an appearance in KH2. I definitely think she's notable enough. The Prince (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
This is about what we have, not what we imagine might exist. This has been stubbish for a very long time, and remember (I'm surprised I even need to say this to you) notability is not the same thing as popularity. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 05:23, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
No need to be rude, Judge. I still think she's notable enough. She even won an award at the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. The Prince (talk) 12:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
I have now created a reception section for Rikku, which can be expanded a lot more as it only contains awards she has won. This article can be improved a lot if we can just be bothered finding OOU info. The Prince (talk) 15:14, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Auron merge

I suggest that Auron gets merged here, as the article has very little out-of-universe content and no refs. It also seems that the character isn't notable enough for his own article. If, however, creation and reception info can be provided, the character can have its own article. The Prince (talk) 21:51, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Supporting since August 2007. It's just a minor character with little notability outside of FFX. Kariteh (talk) 21:54, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Are you guys kidding? FFX revolved around 3 "main" characters. Tidus, Yuna, and AURON. Auron was not a supporting character. Technically the whole story of FFX revolves around him and his experiences. The plot of the game, every situation, every direction, and every decision the group makes is decided by Auron. Auron guides the group through the whole pilgrimage due to the fact that he experienced the same pilgrimage 10 years previously. If he didn't guide Yuna and Tidus and show them that the final summoning was a false tradition and yevon was a corrupt and false religion, the final summoning would have continued, Yuna would have died and the cycle would have continued meaning that sin would return, and for generations the yevon religion would dominate without the people knowing that the religion was false. This thing that I have described was exactely the whole plot of FFX. So therefore, Auron's place in the story was that of a MAIN character. He deserves his own section. Also he did have plenty of "out-of-universe" appearanced including Kingdom Hearts 2. He had about the same amound of out of univerise appearances as Tidus and Yuna and they have their own articles.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.156.38.122 (talk) 09:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Oppose as the person above me has stated Auron was a MAJOR player he was one of THE main reasons Tidus was even there in the story. hell this whole story could be seen as Auron's revenge agenst Yevon and its priests (Most defenatly its his revenge agenst Yunalesca)74.67.21.49 (talk) 05:24, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Yuna merge proposal

I know this won't be a popular motion...but outside of a development section it looks like it might be possible to merge her information into here. It just doesn't look like a strong enough case for a stand-alone character article based solely on real-world impact, despite her weight in the series.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 12:22, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Sin's description

Hey, I noticed that this article describes sin as a whale aeon thing. That doesn't seem too... encyclopedia-like to me. I personally don't know how to word it better. If anyone can do it, please do.

As a side note, anyone who has played the game should note that sin has had two forms. When sin first appears, before Tidus was transported 1000 years into the future, sin took form of a spherical thing. 1000 years later however, sin took form of the whale thing as described. Soooo.... Sin's physical form is probably not definite. 98.247.243.90 (talk) 03:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Removed spoilers as to Tidus' origin

I know that one of the things on the to-do list for this article is to go through and take the spoilers out of the intro complete. For now, though, I took out two spoilers in the intro regarding Tidus: that he was a dream of the Fayth, and that he was being summoned by Yu Yevon. These are major spoilers and if I had read this article without first finishing the game, I would have been very angry to see them in the introduction of an un-spoiler-tagged article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.119.22 (talk) 06:01, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Vidina a village in Kosovo

Vindenis was an ancient city in Dardania in Kosovo.

The disambiguation page for Aeon has a link to this article. But there isn't a section about Aeons in this article. However in Yuna's section of the article, the word "aeon" links to the Spira article which does have an aeons section. Unfortunately, there is a link in said section that is supposed to link to a list of aeons in this article, which it does not. I don't know how to fix links so could somebody fix that? Metalb (talk) 09:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I found the material in the edit history and restored it. The rationale which was given for its removal was thin ("well, the FFVIII characters page doesnt have Guardian Forces, so lets do the same thing here" [2]), and the matter ought, in my opinion, to have been discussed here. Wholesale deletion of notable, quality content isn't the answer. No matter whether consensus winds up deteremining that it doesn't belong in this article after all, finding a place for it is called for. --24.6.228.145 (talk) 21:22, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
As I read such section, all that information appears to be gamecruft and fancruft as it just gives a brief description and how to play with them. Such material appears to be more suitable for a fansite, while Final Fantasy gameplay and all the game articles already talks about the summoned creatures.Tintor2 (talk) 23:44, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
My opinion is that if Yuna herself can have an entire article, and "Yuna" links in other FFX and FF(n) articles are helpful, then brief info about the Aeons at least collectively and maybe also individually deserves some place as well. As has been pointed out, other FFX articles attempt to link to Aeons as it is - it's frustrating when that's either not the case (no wlinks at all) or to no avail (links yield no info). I don't have an opinion on the qualityof the existing material - I understand that you and others may. --24.6.228.145 (talk) 00:35, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
I understand, but just because other articles try to link to such sections, it doesn't mean that they should have a section. As I remember the only notable aeon to the plot is the kid that talks to Tidus alongside (although that isn't an Aeon). It seems that just the description of what an Aeon is, is enough for the articles. Although the reason for the removal of the aeon appears to be other stuff, the FFVIII characters list is a featured list and thus, it is an example of what to follow. Anyway, the links from others articles should just be removed.Tintor2 (talk) 13:34, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Citation repair.

The video game citations are incorrectly done. Fix with this template:

How come Auron has no article?
