Reference links[edit]

I'm building up a workspace of links to be used as references for developing the article further at User:AnonEMouse/Charlotte. I'm doing it there so there aren't dozens of edits to this talk page. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 16:06, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Parental approval[edit]

(From User talk:AnonEMouse/Archive 13)

I gather you got permission for this image by emailing the father? When I closed the AFD on her I did take under advisory that we inferred the father would approve, but if he directly approves, I'd be interested in knowing. Thanks. WilyD 14:06, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I wrote the permission on the image. I sent email to the parents on the website, and the father answered (it took a few days, I sent the email when the AFD closed). I didn't go into the complex details about the BLP, RFAR, DRV, AFD mess, I just asked for GFDL permission to use the image, but I did specify my goal was that it would be used on our article, and included a link to our article. He gave GFDL permission to use all the images on that site, and wrote "Thanks for your help on this." So, yes, I am pretty sure he explicitly approves of having an article. ... --AnonEMouse (squeak) 14:17, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smallest or Youngest?[edit]

From the entry: "She is believed to be the smallest baby...."

I think "smallest baby" should be replaced with "youngest human," but is it true -- is she the youngest human to get this disease and survive? Risssa (talk) 00:33, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Strain of bacteria?[edit]

I think it is noteworthy to mention which strain of meningococcal bacteria she had. A bit more background on whether she had been vaccinated against the common strains (A, C, W-135, and Y if quadrivalent vaccine) would also be informative. (I presume she wasn't since most Western countries don't routinely vaccinate against meningococcal infections, and in 2004 it isn't clear to me whether any Western countries even had access to group B vaccines (either from Cuba or Norway). I think it's important to note whether the NZ epidemic was mostly caused by group B coccii. The MeNZB vaccine used to control New Zealand epidemic suggests she had B strain disease, but that is speculation. Note that the wiki-article on MeNZB claims it was from Norway and the wiki-article on meningococcal vaccines state the Norwegian developed vaccine was only 50% effective and caused major side-effects, including brain damage and was withdrawn from the market (which contradicts the wiki-MeNZB claim that it wasn't introduced). But I'm speculating that the Norwegian vaccine and MeNZB are identical. In New Zealand today, MeNZB (or perhaps its descendants) is only available by prescription and is not routinely administered (based on other wikipedia articles). This is in stark contrast to the family's (continued?) drive to have children vaccinated.Abitslow (talk) 17:59, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Picture Update?[edit]

Just wondering if maybe the image needs to be updated. Charlotte is a teen now, and I have found quite a few pictures of her on the internet. They aren't INCREDIBLY recent (2014-17 months ago) but they're better than just showing a baby.
