Photo of Chen Hongjun[edit]

Is this an authentic photo of Chen Hongjun? File:Chen Hongjun.jpg. The photo was removed twice:

  • 18:44, 28 April 2022 "Wrong Image of the fallen soldier"
  • 06:26, 1 May 2022 "There is strong reason to believe its fake. Please provide a citation to the picture from a news article published in China or any other country. Its quite difficult to assess because of the firewall in China"

I have not seen evidence suggesting otherwise. Sources for photos of Chen Hongjun:

Kindly cite as you add a picture. Getting links from inside the firewall has a lot of fake stuff put on by the 50 cent army and the CCP. Its always better to find some citation outside the Firewall. https://slate.com/technology/2021/10/wikipedia-mainland-china-admins-banned.html Shashank4a1 (talk) 07:26, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why would the Chinese Wikipedia be using a fake photo? Adakiko (talk) 07:32, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Shashank4a1: What is your reason to believe it is fake? You specifically stated "Wrong Image", not "Dubious Image". I don't think many other images on Wikipedia cite a source for their authenticity. How are twelve Chinese admins being banned evidence for the Chen Hongjun image being dubious or fake? Adakiko (talk) 07:49, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia clearly states that any content that is added should be cited; having proper references. If others are not citing properly, its a violation of the terms as stated by Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not Global Times providing propaganda for the CCP. It is an unbiased platform. And if there is another Chinese Version of Wikipedia, why would you cite that, and if you have the same content at both the places, why do you need the Chinese version of it maintained by the 50 cent army? The image is clearly used in Chinese encyclopedias Baike Baidu and Sohu Baike, and these encyclopedias would only use materials and information which are approved by the Chinese censors and CCP in general. I am in 100% sure that this is not a fake image. What makes you think that this is image is fake? Toadboy123 (talk) 10:10, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Shashank4a1: What fraction of images on Wikipedia do you think actually cite a source? Ever notice how most images are the uploader's "Own work"? Wouldn't that make them wp:original research? OR isn't allowed on Wikipedia. Better get started, you have a few million+ images to remove as not citing a source. Jimbo will be shocked on Monday when Wikipedia is just about imageless.
