NB subtly different from Chasm, British Columbia, which is a community/locality adjacent to The Chasm. This might have a Chasm Provincial Park article but I would think it's part of the Chilcotin Plateau Basalts, given the region spanning across the Camelsfoot to the Nicola and Kelowna; or is it part of the Wells Gray field? Whatever; I'll see if I can dig up a pic of it if you'll write the stub, as I don't know its volcanic history; I think the pref format is The Chasm (British Columbia) since it's a landform-proper name we're dealing with, rather than the locality, which would use the comma format. BTW have you heard of China Head, in the Camelsfoot Range? The "head" part is because it's a high headland, an isolated old bench in the near-alpine, but it has a number of conical features on it, including a summit which some have ref'd as "China Hat" because of its resemblance to a coolie hat perched on the meadow of the plateau; the name is actually because it was part of a particular Chinese guy's hog range (Wo Hing, a prominent local merchant and ex-miner). I know there's a big lava plateau just south of there, which you can see the edge of from Pavilion, British Columbia (I'll get the coordinates). And anything on any volcanoes in the Lillooet Ranges, perchance? Mount Brew is the one I'm wondering about...Skookum1 23:14, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chilcotin Plateau Basalts to Chilcotin Group

[edit]

I have renamed this article from Chilcotin Plateau Basalts to Chilcotin Group because Chilcotin Group appears to be a more commonly used term for this volcanic feature and is less confusing with the Chilcotin Plateau. Black Tusk (talk) 06:25, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
