Removal of Maintenance Tags
[edit]Hi. In light of improvements made to the page, including a few I made myself, I'm going to wp:be bold now and remove the two maintenance tags on the page.
The "reliance on primary sources" issue is easily-enough resolved once the citations are wikified - the original ones used were to Vera Files, ABS CBN, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer, all major Philippine News Organizations (although Estella-Simbulan worked on Vera Files, but that's a different argument altogether); and to her citation in the website of the Bantayog ng mga Bayani, which inscribed her name on their Martial Law Martyrs and Heroes Memorial Wall in 2016. I've added a few references myself, including ones from the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication's official publication (as a reference for her role as journalism Professor), and GMA News, as well as additional citations from the Inquirer and Vera Files. Others can add futher citations, I'm sure.
The notability of Estella-Simbulan as journalist is proven easily enough - her early work resulted in her being memorialized in the Philippines' Memorial of Heroes (covering the Marcos Era), her role in the founding of Vera Files and the PCIJ are well known, and her work as Editor in Chief of Pinoy Times got the attention of international professional journalism fora.
But of course, if there are any further concerns connected with these specific tags, we can continue to discuss here. - Alternativity (talk) 03:00, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
