François de Pâris is a new creation: there is an argument for moving some of the biographical detail to it. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:25, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Error in quote from David Hume?

[edit]

I am quite certain that the quote attributed to David Hume via reference [69] is incorrect. The quote given in this article agrees with the quotation presented in Talbot's "The Holographic Universe" but it looks like Talbot garbled the quote, giving it a meaning contrary to Hume's intent. The following URL reproduces (I think) Hume's original writing: http://www.bartleby.com/37/3/15.html . This apparent discrepancy should be resolved.

If the resolution of this matter shows that Michael Talbot made a serious, deliberate error in order to support his own viewpoint, which I currently suspect, then I think that all Wikipedia references to Talbot's works need to be reviewed for factual correctness. If other errors are found, I suggest removing all references to Talbot's works, unless individually validated.
