It is worth pointing out that the Luxembourg Languages Act of 1984 does not mention the word "official" in its text. It is thus highly contested in academic literature (cf. Horner and Weber 2008) and in Luxembourg itself what the official language(s) of Luxembourg is/are.
Suggestion: remove the word "official" from the Wikipedia article and consult other entries on the Luxembourg language situation. 91.37.188.226 (talk) 08:26, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"However, Luxembourg does participate in the Francophonie and has members in the Académie française, ..." The Francophonie is an organisation of French speaking countries and doesn't regulate orthography. For example, Greece and Albania are members because 8% of the polpulation speak French as a second language, even Austria has joined the Francophonie as an observer. Members in the Académie française? - only Jules Hoffmann was born in Luxembourg and acquired French citizenship, but members of the Académie don't represent countries.
