There are a lot of coups missing

[edit]

There are a lot of coups missing just by looking up list of coup we should try to add them. HuntersHistory (talk) 20:02, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have counted add there are about 23 or more missing which I would understand since it is a lot but I weird they would not be on the list like I said I will probably add more later but it would be better if I get List of coups and coup attempts HuntersHistory (talk) 20:18, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Better if I get help. HuntersHistory (talk) 20:18, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Does the undemocratic transfer of power in Chad count as a "coup"?

[edit]

Both the map and the chart count what occurred in Chad in 2021 as a coup. I'm not sure that really counts, however, as it was essentially military leaders deciding to run the country after the death of the leader. While they defied the Chad constitution to do so, I don't see any sources describing what they did as violent or even particularly contested, and the person who should have been the Acting President (Haroun Kabadi) is now the appointed head of a provisional parliament created by the government. While potentially a self-coup, other African countries that have experienced self-coups, most recently Tunisia, are not included within this article. So, I think either some self-coups should be added to the chart/map, or Chad should be removed from the map. Atriskofmistake (talk) 02:54, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gabon is West Africa?

[edit]

So in the summary of coup d'états that have ever occured in West Africa there is the recent Gabonese coup listed. I wonder if it belongs in this table, since Gabon is rarely if ever classified as being in either West Africa or Sahel region. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gorgedweller (talkcontribs) 08:48, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Chad after election

[edit]

Chad had an election and the previous head of the junta is now legally head of state through the democratic election process. If the election was truthful or not is not the topic but that it's not under a military government anymore. Does this mean that the Coup Belt is now broken and not a thing anymore?
