Added back 2009 update on Dala (band) article

[edit]

I'm not sure I understand why you removed it in the first place. All the information is verifiable, and I actually was present at the Newport Folk Festival.

In your comment re: the removal of my original text, you state that information should be timeless. I don't understand this, as this article is actually describing a running history of Dala. There are many articles like this on Wikipedia.

This edit conflicts with our policy on original research. Wikipedians should never write based on their personal experience. We're not reporters, or reviewers. The fact you were at the concert is meaningless. It also violates Neutral Point of View policy, which means articles should not show bias. We should reflect a fair balance of what reliable indpendent sources says. Unfortunately, a lot of bands, and their fans, use Wikipedia to promote the band. The fact this happens, doesn't make acceptable. Saying there were "a big hit" or "2009 was a banner year for Dala" is obviously a promotional opinion. If it's written by an independent reliable source, than that can be mentioned, with a citation, in the article. If the information really is verifiable, then verify it!!! Cite your sources in the article. Aside from these issues, we really don't need to fill the article with trivia. Listing all the other artists who attended to the same event is largely harmless for one event, but absurdly lengthy, if it's done for every event they perform. This is an article about Dala, not the Newport Folk Festival. And sorry, Wikipedia just doesn't care if you attended the Festival. I saw them in a concert myself, thought they were good, and did well. But, notice, I didn't mention that in the article, because my personal observations and opinions are not allowed in article text. --Rob (talk) 02:31, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
