Deletion discussion

[edit]

Why should this be deleted? how is this any less valid than the "Alex K" or "Chris Bailey" articles, or a million other articles in here? He's a musician with an international record deal; who has worked with other "name" artists and won awards. He is mentioned on other pages in wikipedia. What would be the sense in deleting this?

Please take a look at Wikipedia's guidelines on notability especially the specific section on musicians. Thanks, Gwernol 04:45, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

"Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country,[1] reported in notable and verifiable sources" City Rules tour accross Australia (see article)

"Has had a charted hit on any national music chart, in at least one large or medium-sized country" I don't know what exactly constitues a "hit"; but his singles did chart (I just don't happen to know the positions they reached.

"Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers, personal blogs, etc...)." Go to allmusic.com and search "Daniel Merriweather". He has an entry.

"Has won a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno or Mercury Music Award." Well, I don't know whether an ARIA award is "major" or not, but its the biggest domestic award an australian musician can win.

"Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network." Yep.

Got that?

So please explain why this article should be deleted (and saying "Take a look at the guidelines" doesn't answer my question)

I agree entirely with your reasoning, and was about to post the same thing. Major Australian award, national tour, Allmusic and Discog entry. Meets WP:MUSIC AFAICT. I'm removing the speedy tag. Snoutwood (talk) 05:58, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm glad this article has turned out not to be a Deletion candidate. Its improved a lot in the last day. Congratulations. Gwernol 14:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

School

[edit]

Where are the sources that daniel left school for disciplinary reasons? He left to pursue music, pure & simple. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.44.206.78 (talk) 12:24, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not up there any more; but if you go to the google cached version of the MTV article (Reference 5) it actually says it was for disciplinary reasons. Of course the MTV article writer could have got it wrong; but as I don't know D personally I can't go checking everything written about him to make sure its true so I just put in what the article said. Unreleased album

[edit]

Can anyone find any verifiable sources to say that The Fifth Season is going to be released? Nathan86 (talk) 03:11, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Future directions?

[edit]

I've worked on the article attempting to bring it to B-class but have found the Tours section to be problematical. Other editors will have to continue the search for reliable sources for most of the information in this section. I also had difficulty finding usable refs for his Patch Primary and Billanook attendance.

As for Fifth Season, the article now has a quote from Merriweather denying that the album ever existed.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:15, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Whither Celine?

[edit]

Sorry, but it's downright ridiculous that this page contains no references to Merriweather's much-publicised "open letter" to Celine Dion and the brouhaha surrounding the attribution of "Water And A Flame". It's the context in which Merriweather's name is most often mentioned, globally. Why is it not even mentioned here when it merits an entire section on the Dion album's article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.203.208 (talk) 00:00, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
