Personal Life Sources Needed

[edit]

Hi everyone!

I'm rather new here and this is the first page I've ever worked on and I wanted to start a discussion because I've seen some worrying trends on this page. It seems that multiple people/IPs keep changing the personal life section and not providing any sort of references. This is particularly worrying as this is a BLP of an LGBT athlete who's coming out was particularly notable for his sport.

The point of concern is the insistence on adding the word "regrettably" to the sentence about him coming out and the addition of an unsourced sentence about him being in a heterosexual relationship after coming out. The additional sentence even used to say that he was in a homosexual relationship but this was also unsourced. While this isn't particularly heinous, figures like this should have extra care taken to cite sources. If he is in a relationship with a woman and does 'regret' coming out that is all well and good but it needs a source for verification. This is needed because there are legitimate sources about him coming out and none of them reference 'regret' about coming out. This can be a rather sensitive topic for people and potentially a place for personal opinion to come into the article, so good sources will help maintain a neutral point of view.

I have spent a good chunk of time trying to find more sources about the details of his personal life but nothing has come up beyond his coming out as gay. If someone has some more good sources about his personal life that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone and I hope this can be a productive discussion!
