Is the AskDrZ campaign influenced by the 1970s Dr. Z game? In this game you are asked questions - so you do on the website towards the virtual Dr. Zetsche. --Abdull 10:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Z main reason for merger?

[edit]

Doesnt this contradict this line from the Daimler-Benz wiki?

"Chairman Jürgen E. Schrempp resigned from his position at the end of 2005 as head of the world's fifth largest auto manufacturer. In an agreement with the board of directors and Schrempp, he terminated his employment with the company early (his contract ran through 2008). Schrempp has been blamed for the fall of the company's share price since Daimler-Benz's merger with Chrysler Corporation in 1998 of which he was the architect."

Born in Turkey?

[edit]

It would appear to me that Dr. Z is very much German (though I don't really know). Why were his parents in Turkey when he was born?

It clearly says his father was in Turkey on business. I can only presume that the wife, being pregnant, was with him. They moved back to Germany afterward.

Well, that is only half the truth. His father fled from Nazi-Germany and found work in Turkey. --92.74.22.95 (talk) 01:55, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not simply Chairman of the Board

[edit]

Dr. Z is not Chairman of the Board as is normally meant in English. "Chairman of the Board" usually means Chairman of the Board of Directors, the body elected by the company shareholders which is responsible for selecting the corporate officers. The closest analog to this would be the supervisory board, the chairman of which is currently Himar Kopper. The shareholders of DaimlerChrystler AG elect half the supervisory board, with DaimlerChrysler's employees electing the other half. These board members then choose the members of the board of management, which serves as a sort of collegial chief executive [1]. Dr. Z is chairman of this group. Thus, his title should be modified. "the Mercedes-Benz company"

[edit]

There is no such company. It's Daimler AG, formerly DaimlerChrysler AG, formerly Daimler-Benz AG. Mercedes-Benz is is a brand or marque of automobile, and is a division of Daimler AG. The brand was named after Mercédès Jellinek, daughter of an early dealer in Daimler cars. Sca (talk) 20:55, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
